This post is dedicated to the lovely Ronna Resnick at Action Inc. She said she loves the Beautiful Industry photos.
This cable will go on the net reels and be what is attached to the net. When you hear the term “Haul Back” it means they will wind the cable back aboard the boat and pull the net back aboard.
So if you ever listen to the VHF radio and you hear a fisherman say he’s going to haul back, you know he’s just finished his “set” and hes gonna bring the net back aboard.
The grease will preserve the cable and give it a longer life. Below is a picture of ungreased wire cable.

How to Measure a Lobster
Carapace length measured from rear of eye socket parallel to the center line of the bodyshell to the rear of the bodyshell. All lobsters measuring less than the minimum legal carapace length must be returned to the waters from which taken. All lobsters must be measured immediately.

Picked up some lobster bait this morning for our boats. Our guys prefer herring to pogies as pogies get extremely greasy and make working on the deck of the boats dangerous. Once that pogie juice gets on the deck it’s literally as if you were walking around on a pond covered with axle grease.

Here’s a bunch of Matt Cooney’s lobster buoys.
Matt has a very distinct pattern for his buoys. No one would mistake his buoy for their own because it is so unique. Every so often a couple of lobstermen have very similar color markings on their buoys which can make things confusing when they are fishing the same areas.
