September 2023. Ladders up for Daedalus crew powerwashing the ‘founder’s plaque’ on Tablet Rock in Stage Fort Park.

About
The enormous 20th Century plaque on Tablet Rock in Stage Fort Park commemorating the first permanent European settlement, the “Founding of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1623”, was dedicated in August 1907. James R. Pringle was designated to write the inscription. The execution of the design and bas relief border was by Eric Pape.
“The nautical scheme of decorative framework and embellishment was the composite suggestion” of various committees dating as far back as the 1880s.

Image block documenting how Tablet Rock looked pre bronze tablet through today: before the plaque, 1901 (branded Battery K still visible); 1907 dedication, Library of Congress (Hammond with his daughter Natalie Hammond); 1970s; 1974 (graffiti beneath); 2016; 2019. Note the rectangular area beneath the plaque was lightened at the time of installation. The border carving degraded. The dark streaks accelerated after 2020 (note the verdigris patina 2016, 2019, etc)

Bluefin Blowout Check Presentation. $423,000 more donated to help #endalz! That brings the total raised since 2016 to more than $1.7 million!! Last night organizers, sponsors, captains/crews, and friends gathered as Warren Waugh and Cidalia Schwartz announced how much money was raised during this year’s Bluefin Blowout. The staggering amount equaled $423,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. THANK YOU to everyone!!!!

I don’t know if you noticed that Mile Marker is now open on Mondays and Tuesdays for lunch, dinner and drinks on the deck. On Labor Day Monday, it seemed like a good spot to celebrate the unofficial end of summer and unofficial end of Margarita Monday (I was reminded that summer doesn’t officially end for a couple of weeks, so…..). I had the baby back rib appetizer and Jim loved his turkey chaffle sandwich. And, of course, a margarita: strawberry watermelon! I told the bartender to surprise me with a fun flavor and it was perfection. Mile Marker deck is a great place to meet new friends and hug old friends but I don’t know how long the Monday/Tuesday opening will last so maybe get down there ASAP. We might see you! **And before someone asks: Mile Marker is on Essex Ave. Let’s see who reads to the bottom of the post **

Pain becomes a constant part of your life when you’re suffering from tennis elbow, Achilles tendinitis, swimmer’s shoulder, or any other form of tendinitis. Chiropractic care offers an effective way to ease pain, tenderness, and swelling during your recovery.
What Is Tendinitis?
Tendons are strong cords of tissue that connect muscles to bones. Your tendons help your muscles move your bones and absorb shock when you move. Tendinitis occurs when the tendons become inflamed. Although tendons are flexible when you’re young, they stiffen and weaken as you grow older. Unfortunately, this may mean they become inflamed more easily.
Tendinitis can affect tendons anywhere in your body, causing pain that may last several weeks. Although the injury often affects athletes, anyone can develop tendinitis. Participating in activities that involve repetitive motions, like hitting a ball or running, raises your risk for tendinitis. Other risk factors include poor posture, jobs or sports that require overhead movements, or working with vibrating tools. You might also develop the condition after spending the weekend weeding your overgrown flower beds or swiping your finger across your smartphone.
Tendinitis can also be caused by overuse, which could occur if you exercise too long or too intensely. According to an article in American Family Physician, overuse injuries most often affect the:

How Chiropractic Care Eases Tendinitis Symptoms
Your visit to the chiropractor starts with a thorough examination to determine why you have tendinitis. Although you may know that playing golf is the reason your elbow hurts, your chiropractor can determine if a muscle imbalance or other underlying issue is a contributing factor.
