Christmas Shopping. Â Done in 60 minutes. Bananas, Fred Bodin Photo, The Cave, then a speed run in Rockport to finish it off at Tuscan Designs and stocking stuffers at Tucks Candies.
If you screwed up, don’t have that killer gift then go to Rockport and hit the last store on the right before you turn to Front Beach. Grab anything. They go with everything and you can put pasta on them, olive oil in them, then hang them on the wall when you’re done because it’s art. Rubber Duck doesn’t even clash and the blue really shows off her eyes.
Started today at 1PM and got to the dock to pick up lobsters by 2PM. Martini time.

“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by the One Woman Wall of Sound Darlene Love
This video includes a few snapshots of Darlene Love recording at Gold Star Studios.
Darlene Love performed “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”on the David Letterman Show Friday night and she brought the house down. She has performed this song on Letterman  for over 25 years, beginning when he was on NBC and following him to CBS.
While looking for a video for Darlene Love’s “Christmas,” I came across this article (see below for link) where she shares stories of life’s lessons, finding her words of wisdom relevant during this season of forgiveness. It is widely known how badly Darlene Love was treated, both financially and artistically, by Phil Spector and she is no longer angry. “For one thing, as she pointed out, these aren’t fresh incidents: “I had a lot of years to get un-angry,” she says. But it’s also something of a matter of principle. “I have no reason to hate him,” she says, “and I never did, because I always found that hate makes you ugly. Makes you have wrinkles. Which I don’t have.” Here, she laughed. “But you know what? That has a whole lot to do with your insides. When you hate people, it not only makes you hate that person, it gives that vibe off for everything around you. I really do believe that. So I really did try hard not to dislike him and always be the good guy, and say what I say about him and nothing bad. ‘Cause it doesn’t help.”
The article was written by Linda Holmes for NPR in 2011 when it began airing its series Women Who Rock, which was originally inspired by an exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall
We’re down to the wire on Christmas and I thought I would share this story about a great gift idea. Giving the gift of membership to one of your favorite organizations is a perfect way to tell somebody that you want them to share your interests and spend some time together. It’s extending a hand of friendship and inviting the recipient to join you in a common experience – not just at the time of giving the gift, but throughout the year and beyond! Read more…
Last Thursday, St. Ann School had its Christmas concert.  Kudos to their choir director, Lori L’Italien, for her great work with the kids!  The cuteness factor of the little kids was off the charts.  Here are a few photos:

If everyone could send this to a few friends who might share the vision of what we are doing here on Rocky Neck, please have them contact one of us on the Capital Campaign Committee. There are many ways to support the Cultural Center – our immediate goal is to secure its purchase on behalf of the community, and we need your help! Help an Old Friend from Gloucester in Need this Christmas!
Myf Phillips, former long time resident of Gloucester (who lived 10 years on Rocky Neck and 6 in Lanesville), has arrived back on Cape Ann after living in NM for the past 15 years. She packed up her car with a few belongings, her beloved dog and her 2 cats, left her long time relationship and headed back east – where she would be among good friends to support her during this difficult transition. At the age of sixty-something, she’s finding it extremely hard to find an affordable apt. (temp or not) that will accept her and the animals. She could pay rent up to about $850/month and has excellent local references.
She is currently living alone in a secluded, wood-heated cabin in northern New Hampshire (kindly rented to her by a Gloucester friend), but where she knows no one – lovely cabin but very isolated and remote in winter.
Please help this friend in need to find an affordable, pet-friendly apt. and bring her back to Gloucester for Christmas or soon thereafter!
The saga of the NightSUP from Cape Ann SUP continues down in sunny South Florida….
Tyler has taken the fleet and joined forces with a local company from Ft. Lauderdale called Precision Paddleboards and the mind-blowing tours continue….
The critters that we’ve seen down here are truly awesome….whether in the intercoastal waterways or out on the open ocean, the results are the same, lots of interaction with beautiful aquatic life. Squid, Jellies, Sharks, Rays, Manatees, and lots of fish, like Needle Fish and Puffer Fish,..just to name a few…..
We’ve developed a new NightSUP kit which is better, bolder and brighter…..and it’s turning lots of heads all over the country. Gloucester Harbor was the first place we tested this product, so it seems proper to check in with the GMG family with updates…. especially since it’s a Lobster update…. check out this video from Islamorada…..
Merry Christmas Everyone!!! T

I wish I could fly.  That’s the title of a gorgeous Christmas song by Fly Amero & Allen Estes (Fly gets top billing — it’s not called I wish I could Allen).
Fly Amero (L) with Allen Estes (R)
You can hear this song on Aurelia Nelson’s show Curtain Up on North Shore 104.9 FM Tomorrow (Sunday, Dec 23) at 9am.  You’ll also hear a beauty by Aaron Neville.  If you were lucky, you saw Aaron Neville at North Shore Music Theatre in August with Henri Smith opening.
And tonight you’ve got excellent live music choices in all four Cape Ann towns. Â See the live music lineup here.
