Garage Sale this Saturday February 16, 2013

This Saturday, Feb. 16 at 9am-3pm (Sorry no earlybirds) I’ll be having a huge indoor garage sale.

17 Kondelin Rd. #7 Gloucester, MA (In the Cape Ann Industrial Park off of Magnolia Ave. Map at bottom of page)

The sale will feature thousands of fresh items that are ready to sell. I’ve been buying all winter for these sales and my auctions. This sale will feature thousands of items including  antiques, collectibles, jewelry, stamps, books, glassware, china, pottery and who knows what else!

As always, nothing is marked in advance, and I try to make sure all the people that attend go home with great buys which they can re-sell at a profit if they’re dealers.

Stop by you’ll see why our sales at  17 Kondelin Rd. Site #7 are the best garage sales around!

This is what the place looks like at 11:30 am Thurs. morning! Prepare to dig in boxes, I don’t think I’ll have the time to make it resemble a Macy’s display by Saturday morning!

Coming soon: some familiar smiling faces in the midst of the snow!

Home needed for Mr. Z

Cheryl writes in…

“I made a fabulous connection for Bella…a better home than I could provide…still looking for a home for Z…if possible could you repost his bio…I would love to think they could be in the same area and maybe be able to run together once in a while…

Again Thank You for your help,
Love and Light,
Cheryl”

mr. z, adopt, dog

Let’s find Mr. Z a new home! I’m sure he would love to be someone’s valentine.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

~Alicia

UPDATE: Mr. Z found a good home and he’s near his old friend, Bella!

“The homes are so perfect for each dog and get this…they are going to be just about across the street from each other…REALLY how sweet is that. They can still have a romp on the beach and a visit now and then.

Bella is going to a gentleman that is retired and will give her all the love and attention she needs. And honors her age.

Z has gone to a home with a young black lab and a gentleman that lives for his dogs….and the funny thing….Z seemed to be the calmest of the 3…I never thought I’d see the day…lol He is the good ole boy of the house.”

Nutella Brownies with Nutella Butter Cream Frosting and Macerated Strawberries From Sista Felicia

Happy Valentine’s Day…. Grandma Felicia always told me…

“The fastest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”…and she was right!

Who doesn’t love Nutella? It has been a favorite of mine for many years, and has been a staple in my family’s pantries for as far back as I can remember. I can still see it lined up neatly on the second shelf, and left -hand side, of the center aisle of my grandfathers’ Italian variety store, Pats Center Grocery. I still enjoy the snack my Nona Rose prepared for me during my many visits to the store after school. Back then, most children snacked on PB&J after school, but Italian kids…we snacked on Italian toast with Nutella!

Today Nutella is gaining popularity, and justifiable so! It’s rich, creamy, chocolate, nutty flavor is out of this world delicious all on its own…but did you know combined with 2 other simple ingredients you could make one of the most decadent desserts known to mankind…Talk about “the fastest way to a man’s heart” …It’s only 3 ingredients away!

Nutella Brownies with Nutella Butter Cream Frosting and Macerated Strawberries

Nutella Brownie Ingredients

1 cup Nutella Hazelnut spread

2 tablespoon Hershey coco powder
4 tablespoons heavy cream

Macerated Strawberries Ingredients

1 pint fresh strawberries

½ cup sugar

1/4 cup Crème de Strawberry Fraise liquor

5 whole strawberries

Macerated Strawberries Step-by-Step

1 remove stems from strawberries using a paring knife, discard stems

2  slice strawberries in half, then into thirds or fourths depending on the size of the strawberry

Nutella Brownie Step-by-Step

1 combine all ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment

2 beat 1 minute on a medium speed (batter will be very thick)

3 generously grease and flour an 8×8 tart pan (I prefer to use Baker’s Joy non-stick spray)

4 using a rubber spatula, transfer and evenly spread batter

5 bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 25 minutes

6 remove from oven and cool 20 minute

7 remove the outer potion of the tart pan, and carful slide Nutella brownie onto a cake plate

8 using a pastry bag, fix 5 large dollops of Nutella frosting 1 inch from the outer edge of the brownie an, and top each dollop with 1 whole strawberry

9 pipe frosting around the top edge of the brownie

*Note~practice your pastry bag piping skills on a piece of wax paper

10  Slice into 5 equal slices, garnish with macerated strawberry

I had half an hour to spend between client meetings on a recent trip to Boston and used that time to take a quick stroll around the blocks between St James and Bolyston Streets as there are lots of great resources in this area for my interior design clientele. The photos are created in the moment and I am having a lot of fun exploring the double exposure mode with the Fujiflim X-E1.
