Happy Food Day, Gloucester!
Every Gloucester student from Kindergarten through 12th grade celebrated “real food, just food” this Friday, October 24 in a district-wide Food Day event. The event was coordinated by Backyard Growers, FoodCorps, Cape Ann Fresh Catch, and the amazing kitchen managers at each Gloucester school.
Food Day isn’t entirely new in Gloucester. Last year, FoodCorps service members serving with Backyard Growers and The Open Door organized a tasting of local butternut squash at Veterans Memorial Elementary School as part of this national event. This year, Backyard Growers has expanded its school garden programs to include every school in Gloucester, and decided to ramp up its Food Day programming as well.

I’ve been meaning to write a post about this awesome place for months now, but just haven’t gotten it done.  So, without further delay…  you need to check out Mill River Winery in Rowley.
I’ve been twice and truly can’t get back there fast enough.
While their event calendar is pretty full with tastings, tours, vineyard walks, and much more, it is the “Friday Night Wine Downs” that I find the most tremendous.
The first time I went, there was some pretty awesome music thanks to Michael Maloney. Â Totally check him out as he was really fantastic and has done some cool things since I heard him play that evening! Â In addition to the music, the wine is without a doubt spectacular and the food that they offered up was truly delicious.
Another event that I’ve been dying to hit is their “Crush and Brew Trail“. Â It’ll take you from the Mill River Winery to the Riverwalk Brewing Company to the Newburyport Brewing Company, and finally onto Jewell Towne Vineyards. Â I mean, come on!

A lot has changed in the 4 years since that day except how hard Pete works to provide for his family- THAT IS A CONSTANT.
One of the best guys you’d every want to have the pleasure of knowing as a friend OR a business acquaintance.
Pete Mondello is the kind of guy everyone should be lucky enough to have in their circle of friends.

The four kids on bikes, Colby Rochford, Bryce Rochford, Dylan Rochford and Andrew Litteman were the guardians of Magnolia today. Early this morning while riding their bikes, they saw smoke coming from the basement and immediately went over the firehouse to report this. Smart kids and they should deserve a big thank you. Also if you would like to donate to the fire fund, please go to The Magnolia Historical Society’s website www.magnoliahistoricalsociety.com . Please refer to the firefund.
