Lynne Taylor on Local Music Seen with Allen Estes Tonight @ 6pm

Host Allen Estes welcomes Newburyport’s Lynne Taylor as his guest on Cape Ann TV’s Local Music Seen tonight at 6pm.  If you miss it tonight, you can catch her Wednesday at 6:30pm or Friday at 1pm.  See full schedule here.

The daughter of a folk musician and a poet, Lynne grew up in Kent, Ohio during the seventies, and absorbed the social consciousness of that time. She has always felt that music was her calling. She began writing her own songs at the age of fourteen, and has been performing professionally ever since. Lynne’s music is characterized by poignant, honest songwriting combined with a powerful vocal style and unique piano accompaniment. A staple on the music scene in her adopted hometown of Newburyport, MA, she has been performing professionally across the northeastern US since 1985.
In addition to being a popular solo artist, Lynne can also be found having a blast playing bass in her all original punk band, Halo and the Harlots and in roots/alt/country band Liz Frame and the Kickers! One thing is certain; Lynne Taylor has a sound and spirit that is instantly recognizable and all her own!

Lynne released a self-produced solo CD entitled Grace in 1996 and her band, Rantic, released their self-titled CD in 2001. Liz Frame and the Kickers released their first full-length studio recording in Oct. 2011, Halo and the Harlots released their self-titled debut in 2014, and Lynne released When Lightning Strikes in Oct. 2013.

Essex Elementary PTO is raffling off a BOAT!

Hi Joey,

Not sure if you could share this with your readers… the Essex Elementary PTO is raffling off a BOAT!  It’s a great prize (all new, 14ft Lund, trailer, 20HP engine, safety equipment, and a mooring off Conomo Point for the summer).  All proceeds go to fund enrichment at the elementary school.  I attached a flyer with the info.

Our family loves Good Morning Gloucester!

Rabbit Invasion From Jeanne Blake

Hi Joey,

Rabbits are eating the bark off my trees — the trees in the picture are autumn olive trees. They’re also eating the bark off my crabapple trees – and others.

Last summer when rabbits ate many of my plants, a professional landscaper tried a ton of solutions. I sprinkled moth balls, coyote urine, etc. Nothing worked. Now, it appears that rabbits are living under my deck, which means I’ll have even more this spring.

This afternoon I sprinkled “Shake Away” Fox Urine Granules under the trees. I’m not optimistic…

I know that a lot of people are struggling with the rabbit invasion this winter. Perhaps one of your readers will have a suggestion.

Thanks.

GMG Tech Talk- For Those Of You Who Bought A Chromecast- You’ve Got a free Movie Rental Coming To You

Also you should periodically check the Chromecast offer link here- Chromecast Offers, I’ve redeemed a bunch of stuff for free over the past 6 months. Bookmark that Chromecast Offers link, and check it often, it’s always got more free rewards it seems, every time I click on it.

I think the $35 Chromecast is an absolute steal and no brainer.  95% of my TV viewing for the past year has been Netflix ($9 a month) or Hulu Plus ($9 a month) through the Chromecast dongle.  Much like UBER is revolutionizing the local transportation game, Chromecast and streaming TV is revolutionizing TV viewing.  Chromecast is an absolute monster in what it can do for such little money.

Loves me some Chromecast.  if you don’t have one you can get one on Amazon right now for $32.11 here

So I thought I’d pass on this offer I read about this morning on Google+-

These are the current offers this morning-

I’ve redeemed the latest free movie rental and the Valentine’s  Day movie rental WITH a $6 Google Play credit.  So the Chromecast I paid $35 for actually after credits is almost free and the offers show up ALL the time.

Such a NO-Brainer.

Google isn’t just using Chromecast Offers to reward existing users, the company’s also loading it with freebies in an effort to more households to get one. For instance, if you buy a Chromecast from March 20th to April 19th, you’ll get $80 worth of rewards. Namely, three months of subscription to Play Music, one month of Qello Concerts, three months of DramaFever, three months of Sesame Street GO and a free movie rental from Play Movies. While Google has reportedly sold over 10 million streaming sticks last year, having more users means getting more leverage when negotiating with content providers. That, in turn, could lead to bigger rewards or exclusive deals similar to Apple TV’s HBO Now offering.

The REAL Roots of Today’s Music – Tomorrow (SUN) @ 2pm

Beethoven, Brahms, Weber — “Oh, I don’t like them,” you say, trying to sound like a hipster.  “They’re dead white men.”

OK, well so are Elvis, John Lennon and Jim Morrison …

Here’s the thing: Music transcends everything — race, gender, age, time and space. And you can hear a thread.  It seeps in through your ears and wakes your soul.  You just have to be open to it.

Beethoven was the rock star of his day — and if you go to Cape Ann Symphony’s extraordinary concert tomorrow at 2pm you’ll hear what I’m talking about.  Best of all you’ll get to hear Rockport Music’s David Deveau on piano with a full orchestra behind him.  This is an experience you simply can’t miss.  Get tickets here.  See you there …
