OLIVER HAZARD PERRY AND EASTERN POINT LIGHTHOUSE
These photos were taken as the sun was setting, fromĀ Stage Fort Park, on my way home fromĀ Manchester last night. How beautifulĀ to catch a glimpse of thisĀ grand ship anchored in ourĀ harborĀ andĀ adjacent to the Eastern Point Lighthouse. Folks enjoying dinner at the park were referring to it as the “pirate ship.” HereĀ in Gloucester HarborĀ for one night only, Rhode Island’sĀ tall ship the Oliver Hazard Perry will be returning in September.Ā

ZDF Filming at Gloucester’s Eastern Point Lighthouse
This morning while filming B-roll and “Bee”-roll for my nature documentaries I came upon the German National television channel’sĀ ZDFĀ cast and crew getting organized for a day of filming at the Eastern PointĀ Lighthouse. They are shooting filmsĀ based on the Katie FfordeĀ romance novels. Not considered a mini-series, four separateĀ films are being shot all around the North ShoreĀ andĀ filming will continue to take place inĀ Gloucester this week.
“All of Ffordeās stories-into-movies focus on the lead character (usually a woman) overcoming obstacles to achieve a dream. Each film runs for 90 commercial-free minutes.”
For the past several seasons the show has been filmed in and aroundĀ Poughkeepsie, New York. This year, the producers wanted toĀ change it up and film north of Boston. I hope they decide to come back next year!

B-roll Stills from Our Beautiful Gloucester
More stills from B-roll locations for my Monarch Butterfly film.Ā I saved filming B-roll for my film until after the butterflies had departed our shores. When I write B-roll, I mean B-roll relevant to the script, not in terms of beauty. B-roll around here is equal to A-roll everywhere else!
The light is gorgeous year round on Cape Ann, but I find itsĀ ephemeralityĀ in autumn the most beautiful of all.
View from the dock at Captain Joes
A hundred million thank yous to Joey and Frankie for allowing me to film and photographĀ lobster boats coming homeĀ from the dock at Captain Joes. I have much video footage to share and will when I have a bit more spare time work-wise.
