Educator Fellowship

WHAT: This year we are pleased to offer the Summer Immersive Educator Fellowship. This is a competitive award given to an educator of exceptional merit who would benefit from joining a studio program for one week of intensive study, and earning Professional Development Points. The award provides full tuition and housing and the option to give an educator’s/artist’s talk; an award valued at $1,300.

WHEN: The fellowship will take place during the Summer Immersive Studio Program, and all week-long courses offered from June 15 to July 10 are eligible. The deadline for submitting an application is April 24. All applicants will be notified of with the award decision by May 8.

WHO: Full-time educators from anywhere are eligible to apply. Secondary and Primary School Educations will be given preference.

HOW: Interested educators may apply for one course only. They must submit an application form, CV and statement describing how attending the Summer Immersive Program will benefit their career as an educator. Please note: Submitting an application to the Fellowship program does not guarantee a space. We will not reserve seats for fellowship applicants. Applicants who plan to attend the Summer Immersive Program regardless are encouraged to register and pay for courses early as seats may fill quickly. If an applicant is accepted for a fellowship, their course tuition will be refunded.

DEADLINE: Fellowship applications are due April 24th. All applicants will be notified of the decision by the week of May 8.

Good Morning Gloucester! We skied Rockport and Gloucester 32 days this winter and shoveled till our backs hurt – but look at all that snow we shoveled! We are silk screening t shirts to commemorate the snow. The shirts are available at John Tarr and Our Three Sons in Rockport:)

Today I drank 4 oz each of vanilla protein coconut milk shake and raw coconut water. Nibbled on a nutrition bar and just about choked up the caribou bladder. I have gotten a new appreciation for Common Crow http://www.commoncrow.com natural supermarket. ANYTHING I can swallow is precious to me. Seeing my doctor tomorrow and will ask for a throat numbing remedy. Hope I don’t dream about food. Last night’s CSI: Cyber was a bust because I fell asleep after a few minutes 😦

WHAT IS IT?:

An opportunity for fans of all ages to explore Fenway Park at their own pace. The free, open to the public event gives fans a chance to discover behind-the-scenes locations and learn more about “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark” through a variety of family-friendly activities:

• Appearances and autographs by Red Sox Alumni
• Visits to exclusive areas of the ballpark, including the home & away clubhouses
• From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., fans will have an opportunity to walk on the warning track, sit in the dugouts, peer into the bullpens, and peek inside the Green Monster scoreboard (weather permitting)
• The Open House will feature a special college showcase game between two Historically Black Colleges, Florida A&M University and North Carolina Central University starting at 2:00 p.m.
• A college fair with participation from historically black colleges will be taking place in the State Street Pavilion Club from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Explore 100 locations in Fenway Park: A Living Museum
• Tour the Royal Rooters Club: Home of the “Nation’s Archives”

CONCESSIONS will also be available for purchase throughout the ballpark.

Sheepshearing Festival at Gore Place in Waltham

$15 adults, Free to children 12 and under and Gore Place Members. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased at all entrance gates on the day.

Now in its 28th year, this outdoor farm festival has become a family favorite and a tradition throughout the region! Gone within five years, Ravenswood’s delightful hemlock groves. What is happening to them and what will take their place? Did you know we have Moosewood trees and naturally occurring Magnolias? What other trees will surprise you on a guided Tree Hunt? In honor of Arbor Day, join us with a local arborist, naturalist to learn to identify local woody plants by their growth habitats, bark, twigs, buds, and even smell. If you have a mystery woody plant on your own property, bring a 12 inch long sample with buds and we can help you identify it at the end of the walk. Recommended for 10 year olds and up.
