Maritime Gloucester Heritage Day
Maritime Gloucester, located at 23 Harbor Loop in downtown Gloucester, will host its annual Heritage Day celebration from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The event is free to the public.
4:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Gloucester House Public Clambake
Music, food and a whole lot of fun. The cost is only $16 for Lobster, Corn and Cornbread.
5:15 pm to 5:45 pm
Carillon Concert at Our Lady of Good Voyage, final concert of the summer series can be heard throughout the downtown Gloucester area.
6:30 pm to 10:00 pm
Concert on Stacy Boulevard
Live music and light effects on Stacy Boulevard with a break during the fireworks.
7:00 pm
Fireworks Viewing Party at Beauport, the Sleeper McCann House.
Watch Gloucester’s annual Schooner Festival fireworks display from the terrace and lawn of Beauport. Treat yourself to an abridged evening tour as the house transforms at night. Bring blankets, chairs, picnics, and mosquito spray. Candles are prohibited. Adults and children over twelve only, please. $12 Historic New England members, $20 nonmembers. Boat Parade of Lights
The annual Boat Parade of Lights begins at dusk at Jones Creek on the Annisquam River, travels down the river, through the drawbridge and into Gloucester Harbor, ending in the Smith’s Cove area of the harbor.Click here for information on joining the Lighted Boat Parade.

On Thursday the waves were awesome on Magnolia Beach. Had to be very careful do to quite an undertow. Just beautiful.

Job Description:
Need a person that can perform small to medium size jobs using various construction methods – primarily unistrut, 80/20, and wire mesh panels. Will need to be able to route wiring and water lines along cable ways. This person will have to work with engineers and designers to review plans, provide constructive feedback and participate in a group collaboration for the various projects.

Electro/Mechanical Assembler
Contract- up to 18 months
3rd Shift (Mon-Thur 9pm to 7am)
Perform a wide variety of routine and non-routine electrical / mechanical assembly operations including installation of power distribution cables, harnesses.
· Follow work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering specifications, sketches, and written and / or verbal instructions to build electro-mechanical and or pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.
· Complete rework on assemblies and / or systems as a result of testing.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
· One to two (1-2) years electro-mechanical experience. Auto Mechanics is considered electro-mechanical.
· Basic computer skills necessary.
· Vacuum experience preferred.
· Ability to lift and / or carry up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to work in an environment which is subject to cold, heat, and noise.
· Willingness to work off shifts.
· Adherence to safety guidelines and Lean initiatives.

This Fall, Rockport Music features the best in jazz, soul and the American Songbook featuring the Tamir Hendelman Trio, soul queen Bettye LaVette, jazz violinist Regina Carter in a program entitled Simply Ella, as well as the incomparable Michael Feinstein.

The foremost jazz violinist of her generation and recipient of the prestigious “genius grant” from the MacARthur Foundation, Regina Carter is touring off her recent release, Ella: Accentuate the Positive, marking the 100th birthday of a musical legend. Over the last three decades, Michael Feinstein has brought the music of the Great American songbook to the world. One of the most successful and recognized solo pianists in the world, George Winston brings his remarkably enduring and highly imitated piano style to Rockport for the first time in a concert just in time for the holiday season. This concert will feature George’s Winter Show, which will include melodic fall and winter type songs, some of Vince Guaraldi’s Peanuts pieces, pieces inspired by the New Orleans piano & the stride piano traditions, and songs from his upcoming albums. The 18-piece big band performs music of the swing era with its characteristic and infectious swing beat, as well as Sinatra classics. The Orchestra’s mission is to bring big band music back into the mainstream for future generations to enjoy. Gloucester Rotary Photo Contest,

The Gloucester Rotary Club will publish a 12-month Cape Ann photo calendar for 2018 as a fundraiser. All profits will go to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s efforts to raise money that supports the many community and international activities in which the club is involved.
In Order to publish a beautiful calendar, the Club is requesting high quality digital photos that show the unique beauty of Cape Ann throughout the year– landscapes, seascapes, harbor scenes, sunrises/sunsets, boats, wildlife, etc. As we will be featuring one photo per month, we need images from each season: winter, spring, summer and fall. Photographs from Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester will be accepted.

What?
A 12-month Cape Ann photo raffle calendar that will be sold through the Gloucester Rotary Club. A raffle ticket will be attached to each calendar and a winning number will be chosen each week in 2018. All profits from the calendar sales will go to the Gloucester Rotary Club’s efforts to raise money that supports the many community and international activities in which the club is involved.
2018 Calendar Theme: Land, Sea and Sky of Cape Ann
Landscapes, seascapes, harbor scenes, sunrises/sunsets, boats, wildlife, etc. Most importantly we want very high quality digital photos that show the beauty of Cape Ann. As we will be featuring one photo per month, we need images from each season: winter, spring, summer and fall. Photographs from Gloucester, Rockport, Essex and Manchester will be accepted. A selection committee from the Rotary Club will make the choices.
Technical specifications & rules:
Horizontal, color, minimum size 12 x 8” digital .jpg files at 300 dpi, maximum size 12 mb. In your entry submission email, title and identify where the photos were shot (e.g., Smith Cove) and, if possible, the month they were created. Photo title must be in your file name (example: kayakers-smith cove-may.jpg). Make sure to give your name and contact info in the email with your entries, including your mailing address, phone number and email address. Because of the large number of entries we expect, entries that do not meet the minimum size requirements and/or photographers who fail to provide the required entry info will be automatically rejected. In addition, no copyright watermarks are to be embedded in the photos or they will be disqualified.
Photographers who submit photos understand that we may need to slightly crop or downsize the winning entries for printing purposes and accept this. We reserve the right to use low res files of winning entries to help advertising the sale of the calendar. Winning entrants will have the photo title or location and photographers name printed under the photo.

The thirty-third Gloucester Schooner Festival begins tonight with the Mayor’s Reception at Maritime Gloucester. The saturday Maritime host Gloucester Heritage Day from 10-4pm. We’ll be doing deck tour on Adventure from 9-12, hope to see you there. There is a lobster bake at Gloucester House, Concert on Stacy Boulevard, Boat Parade Of Light and Fireworks. Then Sunday the best part Parade of Sail and Race.

Mayor Romeo Theken is pleased to announce that the State’s MA Historical Commission has awarded a $50,000 emergency grant to the Sargent House Museum through the City of Gloucester. The museum is replacing the entire roof.
