Shutdown

IMG_6552.jpg

Happy Friday to most. We know that the shutdown has been extremely challenging on families. While we know that haircuts don’t always seem like a necessity & more of a luxury we don’t feel that this isn’t always true. Sometimes that fresh look may be all you need to rise your spirits. Please come into Unwind Luxury.Vegan.Beauty from now until Feb 14th if you are a government paid employee who is no longer getting paid. We want to treat you to a complimentary haircut or even just wash & blow dry for yourself and your children. This is an honor system, so please do not abuse it.

Let’s all come together and help in anyway possible. Spread the word. From our tribe, to yours ❤️ 978-282-1900

Only thing missing is the color being maroon!

Could not resist!

More to come we hope!

At your GMG holiday party I told Sista Felicia that I wanted some GMG something to have in pictures to send back from Argentina.  Her first words…  don’t tell Joey!  So she dug up this banner and her mom hand delivered it to our office!

Live from Buenos Aires…  Good Morning Gloucester!

Leaving for Mendosa tomorrow which is the wine country (Malbec) and will shoot you some more.

Adios for now!
Thanks,

Ken

Wow! Cape Ann in Kenya! 💖📚

cape ann reads in africa jan 2019_courtesy photo for deborah french director at tohp burnham library essex massachusetts

“This is Adare who just returned from Kenya,” writes Deborah French, Library Director of the TOHP Burnham Library in Essex, Massachusetts. The family captioned the photograph “So here is Cape Ann Reads with a giraffe!” What a super travel photo, and kind shout out to Cape Ann Reads and Cape Ann.

Several captivating and compassionate picture books included in the Once Upon a Contest: Selection from Cape Ann Reads travel exhibition currently on view at Cape Ann Museum focus on animal friends. Stop by to read the new books and see if you can find all the giraffe illustrations.

ICE SAILING UNDER THE WOLF MOON

Lovely to see ice sailing at Niles Pond under the twilit January Wolf Moon last week. The sun was setting while the not-quite-full moon had risen early.

Ice Sailing at Niles Pond

I took Charlotte out Friday at dusk to look for the moon and we found it at Niles Pond, along with hockey players and ice sailors. We can thank her favorite storybook Good Night, Moon for her lunar passion.

BACKYARD GROWERS UNVEILING BIG CHANGES TONIGHT!

An Invitation from Backyard Growers

We’re unveiling big changes, exciting new goals and a vision for the future tonight at 5 p.m. But before tonight’s party, we want to share the announcement that Associate Director of Community Programs Anna Swanson is headed for new pastures at Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. It’s bittersweet, as she’s been so essential to our growth and success. But, we’re thrilled to share that we’ll be welcoming J. Harrison as Interim Program Director. J. officially joins Backyard Growers after 13 years at The Food Project and behind-the-scenes support of our work since the very start.

Click here to meet J., and stop by our HQ at 271 Main Street from 5 – 7 p.m. to toast the future and learn more about our vision for the next three years at Backyard Growers.

You’ve been our roots, now we’re spreading our wings.

You helped us get here and now we want to share where we’re going. We’ll share our vision for the future at a wine and cheese reception celebrating and saying thank you to our fantastic community. Join us to learn what’s next as we tackle our mission to build a healthy, connected, environmentally sustainable community in Gloucester and beyond.

Rotary Phone Experiment

These teens had 4 minutes to dial a particular number on a rotary phone. If you are of a certain age, you cannot help but smirk a little as you watch them figuring it out. I admit to laughing out loud. It’s interesting though to think about what this says about how teens problem-solve today.
