Hope the FOBs enjoy this 2 minute glimpse of life on the water in Pigeon Cove. It’s a very peaceful dawn. All I hear is the wind, the waves, seagulls, and the puttering of the boat’s engine. I feel like l’m living in a Fitz Henry Lane painting!

Hauling Pots, Pigeon Cove From Leslie Heffron
Hi Joey, Thought the FOBs might like this little film, “Hauling Pots, Pigeon Cove.” I shot it on a recent peaceful Sunday morning. Turn up the volume for the full effect.
“John talked very kind of Liverpool docker talk…George was a bit more of a perfectionist. John seemed a little more relaxed”
LISTEN HERE:
Cha-Chi Loprete was gracious enough to give us permission to post his extraordinary interview with British Rock Star, Joey Molland that aired yesterday morning on his famous WZLX radio show, Breakfast With The Beatles.
Joey tells some fascinating stories about his life, what it was like working with John Lennon on “Imagine” and George Harrison on “All Things Must Pass” along with other momentous musical experiences, including being part of the Concert for Bangladesh. And the whole thing starts off with a brand-new version of Badfinger’s hit “Come And Get It” by The Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and guests including Paul McCartney, Robby Krieger, Dave Grohl and others).
You can see Joey Molland and Badfinger this Saturday, right down the road at Beverly’s intimate, acoustically spectacular Larcom Theatre with Salem’s rising stars Brooks Young Band opening. Good seats are still available. Get tickets here.
Speaking of the Concert for Bangladesh, here’s a short recap of how some of the world’s biggest rock stars came together in 1971 for THE concert that set the standard for all future fund-raising efforts.
You could meet British Rock Star Joey Molland of Badfinger next Saturday
In case you missed this post, here’s a reminder that we kick off our third season right down the road at Beverly’s intimate Larcom Theatre next Saturday, Oct 10, with British Rock Star Joey Molland and Badfinger.
Hand picked by The Beatles, Badfinger was the first group signed to the Beatles’ label, Apple Records and their first #1 hit “Come And Get It” was written by Paul McCartney!
George Harrison and Paul McCartney produced a string of world-wide Badfinger hits, including “No Matter What,” “Day After Day,” “Without You” and “Baby Blue”, which hit the charts again in 2013 on the Breaking Bad soundtrack.
Badfinger is still led by founder Joey Molland, who performed on George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” album and John Lennon’s “Imagine” album (check out this recent article for more detail on Joey’s contribution to “Imagine”).
You can enter a contest to win an exclusive back-stage meet & greet with Joey and the band before the show next Saturday. It’s easy, just click here and enter BADFINGER where it asks for the CONTEST NAME. Winners will be notified via email. You must have a ticket to win. Get them here. The contest ends on Sunday.
Speaking of Sunday, Joey Molland will be Cha-Chi Loprete’s guest on his famous WZLX radio show, Breakfast With The Beatles. Be sure to listen in on 100.7FM or online. It’ll certainly be worth getting up for.
Anybody still have one of the records pictured in this video? Bring it along. I’m sure Joey would love to sign it for you!

Meet Chelsea Berry
Chelsea Berry is a singer/songwriter with incredible edge, power, and finesse. Her presence has been described by listeners as “compelling… she draws the entire house into her world like moths to a flame.” Born and raised in Alaska, she now makes her home on Boston’s North Shore.
A favorite among venue owners up and down the East coast, Chelsea’s commanding stage presence and energetic rock/folk/pop sound has begun bringing her across the U.S. as regular support for Livingston Taylor as well as headliner of her own shows from California to Washington, Minneapolis, New York, and everywhere in between.
Along with her solo shows, Chelsea frequently supports artists such as Chris Isaak, Jonathan Edwards, Jon Butcher, Chris Smither, Cheryl Wheeler, Marshall Crenshaw, Patty Larkin, and many others.

Tuffy and Crew Back At The Dock After Taking A Wave Over The Bow

I’m just going to back away slowly…
I’m just going to back away slowly…
Submitted by Terry Weber
This little crab was on Good Harbor Beach with seagulls circling ‘round and one just starting to peck him. He was moving slowly. I put him in shallow water under a rock ledge. Don’t know if that saved the little guy, but it didn’t seem right to stand by and watch him slowly get pecked to death. May he live a long life, or at least a longer one!
NEW FILM: Luminescent Sea Salps
These salps were filmed in Gloucester’s inner harbor and had a luminous appearance in the blue lights of the fishing boat Hot Tuna, the largest boat in the Wicked Tuna fleet. I think the song “La Luna” by Lucy Schwartz adds to the magical movement of the salps and other creatures in the glowing blue. (So sorry to Captain Ott for startling him while hanging over the edge of the dock to film the salps at the rear of his boat, and Hey to Nicky Avelis!)
Sea salps are warm ocean water creatures, exploding in population during algae blooms. With beating heart, notochcord, and gills they are more closely evolutionarily linked to humans than to jellyfish. Sea salps are individual creatures that through asexual reproduction, can form linear chains up to fifteen feet long!
Salps are planktonic (free floating) members of the subphylum Tunicata. Tunicates get their name from the unique outer covering or “tunic,” which acts as an exoskeleton. The sea salp’s tunic is translucent and gelatinous; in some species it is tough and thick.
ON SALE & SELL OUT ALERTS
Here’s an update on our third season at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre, the most intimate, acoustically spectacular listening venue north of Boston — and guess what: it’s just down the road from you!
We kick off the season in two weeks (OCT 10) with British Invasion Rock Stars, BADFINGER, the first band to be signed to the Beatles’ label, Apple Records, with huge #1 hits, “Day After Day,” “No Matter What,” “Without You,” “Baby Blue” and “Come And Get It” written by Paul McCartney!

Two weeks after that (OCT 24) it’s our Blues & Soul Festival featuring the triumphant return of Victor Wainwright (who brought the packed house down last year) with Soul sensation Eli “Paperboy” Reed and local Blues icons Ricky King Russell and Parker Wheeler’s Blues Party.
SELL OUT ALERT: As promised, we always warn GMG viewers about impending sell-outs BEFORE they occur. On Friday, November 20th, we welcome rock icons The Yardbirds and this show is nearing sell-out. Your best bet now is to get Balcony seats HERE. If you haven’t been to the Larcom, don’t worry, the last row of the Balcony is only 60 feet from the stage. Sight lines are perfect and the sound is spectacular. You do have to walk up the stairs, though, so if you can’t do that, there are still some seats left in the Orchestra, here.
ON SALE ALERT: Tickets just went on sale to the public for this special appearance of Elisabeth von Trapp (granddaughter of Maria and Baron Von Trapp, who inspired “The Sound of Music”) in Beverly on the 50th anniversary of the film’s debut. Here’s what the Boston Globe says about Elisabeth: “Before the concert is over, she will have the crowd gasping with the sheer beauty of her voice.” Renowned composer/pianist Douglas Major (who now lives in Marblehead) joins her. This show will sell very quickly, so get tickets right now, right here.
More shows will be announced soon. If you want to be notified with an exclusive pre-sale link so you can get the best seats before tickets go on sale to the public, join our free Concert Club by clicking here.

An Offer To All #GloucesterMA Election Candidates:
![]()
As you all know we don’t take political stances here or endorse candidates but what I’d like to offer is an invitation for any candidate that is running for office in Gloucester to submit a video explaining why they think they are best suited for the position they are running for. The easiest way to do this would be to upload the video to YouTube.
The videos will be released once and placed on GMG at 7PM on the following night that they are received. If more than one video is submitted to me at goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com then the first one that is submitted will be aired the following evening at 7PM and the next one submitted will be posted the following evening at 7PM. There will be a link in each candidates post containing their video to goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com which will have all previously submitted candidate’s videos.
Once they are submitted they will be added to https://2015gloucestermaelection.wordpress.com/ where all the videos will be available for viewing at any time on the same page.
In the title of the video it should list the candidate’s name- position they are running for and the words “GMG submission”.
As always the GMG politics disclaimer- any post on these pages containing a candidate does not imply an endorsement for any candidate. Comments on www.goodmorninggloucester.com for these video submissions on the blog will be turned off for these posts as well.
Hopefully this will serve to help candidates get their message across.
Good luck and thank you to all that participate in the process for the love of Gloucester and making it better.
