British Invasion rock stars, Badfinger, kick off GIMMELIVE’s highly anticipated third season at Beverly’s fully-restored, historic Larcom Theatre, performing ONE NIGHT ONLY. Hand picked by The Beatles, Badfinger was the first group signed to the Beatles’ label, Apple Records and their first #1 hit “Come And Get It” was written by Paul McCartney!

George Harrison and Paul McCartney produced a string of world-wide Badfinger hits, including “No Matter What,” “Day After Day,” “Without You” and “Baby Blue”, which hit the charts again in 2013 on the Breaking Bad soundtrack.

Still led by founder Joey Molland, who performed on George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass” album and John Lennon’s “Imagine” album, Badfinger’s high energy concerts continue to thrill audiences world-wide.

Brooks Young Band will open the show. Hailing from Salem, MA, Brooks Young Band saturate their songs with rock and roll edge and blues feel, going for a direct, emotional and powerful sonic blend.
Brooks’ searing guitar leads and soulful vocal performances lock in perfectly with the solid rhythm section, creating an inspirational and uplifting sonic texture along the lines of influential performers such as Eric Clapton and Dave Matthews.
The Brooks Young Band has toured extensively throughout New England, sharing the stage with icons such as B.B. King, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, The Wallflowers, and Boyd Tinsley of Dave Matthews Band. They have also had the privilege of performing for Vice President Joe Biden.

Cha-Chi Loprete was gracious enough to give us permission to post his extraordinary interview with British Rock Star, Joey Molland that aired yesterday morning on his famous WZLX radio show, Breakfast With The Beatles.

Joey tells some fascinating stories about his life, what it was like working with John Lennon on “Imagine” and George Harrison on “All Things Must Pass” along with other momentous musical experiences, including being part of the Concert for Bangladesh.  And the whole thing starts off with a brand-new version of Badfinger’s hit “Come And Get It” by The Hollywood Vampires (Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and guests including Paul McCartney, Robby Krieger, Dave Grohl and others).

In case you missed this post, here’s a reminder that we kick off our third season right down the road at Beverly’s intimate Larcom Theatre next Saturday, Oct 10, with British Rock Star Joey Molland and Badfinger.

Here’s an update on our third season at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre, the most intimate, acoustically spectacular listening venue north of Boston — and guess what: it’s just down the road from you!

We kick off the season in two weeks (OCT 10) with British Invasion Rock Stars, BADFINGER, the first band to be signed to the Beatles’ label, Apple Records, with huge #1 hits, “Day After Day,” “No Matter What,” “Without You,” “Baby Blue” and “Come And Get It” written by Paul McCartney!

Two weeks after that (OCT 24) it’s our Blues & Soul Festival featuring the triumphant return of Victor Wainwright (who brought the packed house down last year) with Soul sensation Eli “Paperboy” Reed and local Blues icons Ricky King Russell and Parker Wheeler’s Blues Party.

SELL OUT ALERT: As promised, we always warn GMG viewers about impending sell-outs BEFORE they occur.  On Friday, November 20th, we welcome rock icons The Yardbirds and this show is nearing sell-out.  Your best bet now is to get Balcony seats HERE.  If you haven’t been to the Larcom, don’t worry, the last row of the Balcony is only 60 feet from the stage.  Sight lines are perfect and the sound is spectacular.  You do have to walk up the stairs, though, so if you can’t do that, there are still some seats left in the Orchestra, here.

ON SALE ALERT: Tickets just went on sale to the public for this special appearance of Elisabeth von Trapp (granddaughter of Maria and Baron Von Trapp, who inspired “The Sound of Music”) in Beverly on the 50th anniversary of the film’s debut.  Here’s what the Boston Globe says about Elisabeth: “Before the concert is over, she will have the crowd gasping with the sheer beauty of her voice.”  Renowned composer/pianist Douglas Major (who now lives in Marblehead) joins her.  This show will sell very quickly, so get tickets right now, right here.
