New Local Music Seen show premieres tonight

Local Music Seen with Allen Estes, kicks off a new fall season tonight featuring the man who taught Fly Amero to finger pick, Chick Marston, with his partner Ellen Ford. Chick & Ellen’s chemistry is infectious; their harmonies gorgeous. Songs transcend genre with powerful storytelling and melodies that stay in your head all day long. And if that’s not enough, they’re joined by Laurie & Jay Keefe. What a show!  Catch it on Cape Ann TV Cable Channel 12 tonight at  6:30pm, Friday at 1:30pm or Sunday at 6pm.

Speaking of Fly Amero, after you’ve seen Allen’s show tonight, get on down to the Rhumb Line at 8pm to see Fly with his special guest Elaine O’Rourke and see if she can get Fly into a yoga position like this one.

Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Gloucester shows their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Staff shows their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by dedicating their monthly Staff Appreciation Day to a Fund-raising events for the Susan Komen Fund.  The Gloucester Fire Department join in with their T-shirt campaign for Breast Cancer fund-raising that benefits the Susan Komen Fund.  "Wear Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness" Day was held on Thursday October 18 with entire staff wearing pink.   Here, Deb Sacco, Administrative Assistant, Addison Gilbert Hospital, purchases T-shirts (Far left).

Oopsies!

Fred Bodin writes-

Oops! While moving the largest cylindrical section of the Wind Turbine tower, which was 90 feet long including the truck in front and the rig in the rear, they nearly got hung up leaving Cruiseport. The problem was a steel pylon (painted yellow). No problem for this crew however — they just took a torch to it and cut it down to the ground. The bushes went bye bye too.

Just in from Chief Campanello Regarding Turbine Transportation and Traffic Tomorrow Morning

Mayor Kirk Forwards this note from Chief Campanello

They are moving huge parts of the windmill tomorrow morning starting at 8am.  Same route.  The road will not need to be closed.  2 state and 3 Gloucester officers escorting and ensuring public safety.  We don’t anticipate long delays for traffic and the transport vehicle should be clear of major roadways within 30 minutes barring any unforeseen circumstances.

I posted this interesting video so you can see how they assemble a wind turbine. At the 6:54 mark they are delivering and assembling the blades to the hub on the ground then lifting the whole unit into place. I’m not sure how the Gloucester one will be put together.
