Big Mike’s Bikes Getting Bigger New Shop In The Works!
Hey Joey!
Good news! After months of cramped quarters overstuffed with bikes, we moved into the space directly next door that was Miguel’s and before that, Enterprise Car Rental. So our address and everything is staying the same. How easy is that? We’re going to have 3 times our original space. Now we’ll have far more space for used bikes on display, and we can carry a more varied range of accessories and even basic bicycle repair classes. We’re also going to start stocking used sporting goods like ice skates, roller skates, hiking backpacks, etc – why go all the way to Wenham or even Reading for a pair of used ice skates? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Here’s some pictures of the space coming together.
Look at all this empty space! I could’ve set up a roller rink.
Here’s the new repair station. Now we can double our output.
We have a lot of stuff to put away, but we’re open in the new spot on Tuesday!
Thanks!
Kathleen

Background as a Physical Education and Health Teacher in Gloucester and Manchester Public/Private Schools. Expertise, Registered Nutritionist, certified Wellness coach, Pre-diabetic/Diabetic Educator assisting individuals in prevention of age related disease through healthy lifestyle choices.
Why opt for a healthier lifestye?
Lifestyle is a combination of eating whole balanced foods, exercising and stress reduction. Understanding and keeping these in balance will prevent disease, increase your energy, help reduce or eliminate medications and more, as well as give you a greater quality of life!
Favorite exercise:
I love to exercise- mostly outdoors in activites that I enjoy- biking, walking, kayaking. When the outdoors isn’t available I like Zumba, Group Fitness class, yoga. I practice eating well , avoiding sugar and processed white flour, indulging once in a while- all in moderation.
Favorite easy to cook recipe:
I like to keep it simple, with an occasional all out complicated recipe.
Here are some of favorite staple ‘go to’ recipes which really don’t need any directions to follow.
Eggs whites plus one whole egg ,fresh/ frozen organic broccoli and onions, tomato for breakfast
lunch organic black bean soup or homemade chicken sausage/lentil/kale soup, (sautee in EVOO, cut up mild/or spicy chicken sausage and chopped onion, add organic low salt chicken broth, cup of lentils, torn up kale pieces simmer about 30-40 minutes)
dinner stir fried green veggies(broccoli, asparagus, beans etc), onions, celery, garlic, chicken breast and hoisin sauce-

Sargent House Museum is looking for volunteer readers for its annual “Judith Speaks” program to be held in May. All ages are encouraged to apply.
“Judith Speaks” brings alive the words of Gloucester native, Judith Sargent Murray, one of the nation’s first feminists. As a letter-writer, essayist, poet, novelist and playwright, Judith Sargent Murray wrote tirelessly on behalf of women’s right to an equal education, an equal place in marriage, and a voice in the new republic. The writings she left behind are inspiring, poignant, wry and funny.

MyZone Fitness Challenge- Muffy Pulls Ahead With Another Psycho 2 Hour Session
I pulled within 4 MEPs of her yesterday but when I got to The Manchester Athletic Club she had just finished a 2 Hour session in which she amassed a 300 point lead over me before I cut that lead in half.
She’s a beast. But I’m more consistent. We will see who out perseveres who by the end of the month.
I will say this- there is without question a fire that burns with this whole MZone thing and it’s because of the accountability in the reporting of my workouts. I don’t take breaks when I’m working out because I know that it will affect my score. It pushes you to keep on pushing throughout the entire workout.
It’s Muffy vs your boy Joey C- who ya got?

Big Mike’s Bikes Water Bottles- Finally!
Big Mike’s Bike’s writes-
Hey, Joey!
I wanted to let your readers know we finally got a shipment of Big Mike’s Bikes water bottles in! A lot of people asked for them last season, but we were so busy with tune-ups and service we didn’t get to ordering them until after the holidays. They are BPA free, are made and printed in the USA, and have a nifty little rubber gasket and spout so you don’t have to gnaw on plastic to get them open. They’re $3.99 here at the shop at 50 Maplewood Ave. Right now we’re on winter hours, so Tue-Thu 10-6 and Fri-Sat 10-3, but we’ll be back to 7 full days a week when the weather gets nice.
Thanks!

Pedal To End Cancer March 3, 2013 At The MAC
On March 3, 2013, we will be joining over 85 clubs across New England hosting the American Cancer Society’s 9th annual Pedal to End Cancer event. In the last eight years, Pedal to End Cancer has raised over $2.2 million to benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs of cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services.
I hope that you will support our effort with a donation – making a financial contribution, or an in-kind donation of a product or service that we can either use in our raffle, award to one of our top fundraisers, or simply distribute to all of our participants.
Approximately 60 people are registered to participate at our club location. Every participant has his/her own reason for joining us as we pedal towards a world with more birthdays. Some have watched a love one battle the disease, while others have struggled with it themselves. Whatever their reason for participating, each is working to raise funds for a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
We want to show our support to those who work tirelessly to raise the funds that are vital to a mission that is important to all of us. The American Cancer Society is fighting to save more birthdays but they can’t do it alone. I do hope you’ll consider sponsoring our event and helping us in the fight against cancer!
Sincerely,
Lindsay Mzaouakk
