Community Stuff 6/22/13

Hi,
Just wondering if you could let people know about the showing of this award winning documentary about hunger in the US. The event will be held at the Danvers campus of North Shore Community College starting at 6:30 PM on Monday evening, June 24th. It is free and open to the public, although we ask that people attending consider making a monetary donation, or bringing a gift card from a supermarket to benefit food pantries in the area. The Open Door Pantry will be represented, as will many other local food pantries. For more info, please see the attached flyer.

Vivi-Velasco_Jewelry_2013_press5Hello All;

Attached, please find the press release for a very special event at Aquatro Gallery next weekend, Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 5-8 PM.

As part of Aquatro Gallery’s move to a new, expanded location on Madfish Wharf this season, the gallery directors, Adriana Mederos and Stevie Black, have expanded their collection of fine artwork and fine objects for the home and for the body.

Jeweler Vivi Velasco’s work very much fits the overall design ethos and creative spirit fostered by Aquatro – extremely original, limited edition, personable and warm – this is design and art you can live with.

Please join us for this gala event.

Gail Guittarr submits-

Three week tour of Portugal brought to me the remembrance of so many
Gloucester families who helped build our community.  Names in
catacombs were Silva, Mederios, Sousa , Lima, Gomes,  Silveira, Matos,
Nunes, Lopes, deMoura, Alves, Manuel,Munoz,  Machado, and others.  A
country of beautiful history and people who are suffering the same
challenges of the fishing industry that we are.  Cod  is still King
here!

This was taken from my BlackBerry through my car windshield while at the red light on Boylston Street facing the Memorial. Granted not the best quality pic, especially since I had to turn my wipers off and it was still lightly raining, but still a kinda cool effect.

I got the chills when I saw it appear so bright and wondrous above the Memorial, thought it was a great symbol of triumph after tragedy and things like The One Fund that people, foundations, corporations and the City donated to so generously to help support the survivors, $54MM raised as of today and still growing.

Hi Joey,

I missed the double rainbow last night, but my neighbor Davies Brown, who owns Rocky Neck Associates, captured this fantastic panorama.

Enjoy!
