Host Families Needed for Gloucester/Tamano Homestay Program

Let’s Show Our Sister City a Gloucester Hospitality!

We are super excited to announce that students from our sister city, Tamano City, Japan, will be visiting us this summer! To make their stay unforgettable, we need some awesome host families. This is a fantastic opportunity for fun and cultural exchange, and we would love for you to be a part of it!

Host Family Opportunity:
Students: 3 females and 2 males ages 15 to 17.
Chaperone: 1 female adult
From: Tamano City, Japan – Gloucester’s sister city
Dates: Arriving Wednesday, July 23 in the evening; Departing Sunday morning, August 3

Why Host?

Cultural Exchange: Enjoy a meaningful cultural exchange that enriches your family’s experience and broadens your global perspective.

Minimal Commitment: Students will be busy with English lessons and excursions during weekdays, so your primary responsibilities will be providing breakfast, dinner (during the week), and sharing all meals during the weekends with your family.

Self-Sufficient Students: Students bring their own spending money and manage their own lunch at local restaurants during the week.

Your Role as a Host:

Provide a welcoming and supportive environment.
Provide breakfast and dinner during the week and all meals on the weekends.
Share your local customs and family life.
Enjoy the company of your international guest during the evenings and weekends.
Join the Gloucester Host Family Community!
Be a part of an unforgettable experience that has brought joy and global connections to our community for years. Hosting these students is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Gloucester’s warmth and hospitality.

If you have any questions or would like to become a host family, please feel free to contact Jason & Shannon Hakes.  <jhakes1978@gmail.com>

We are happy to provide more information and answer any questions you may have.

Let’s make this exchange program a success together and show our friends from Japan how welcoming Gloucester can be!

Thank you for your support
