How about starting a support group for those of us whose vacations are over-ha! Could be called GMG ( "Grieving, Missing Gloucester")! There is still so much great stuff going on in town–love reading about it all!

Joey, 8 of us(4 couples) from Chicago area are planning a New England weekend in July, 2012. A woman at one of the bike shops, Big Mike’s I think, recommended I send you an e-mail. She says YOU are the man.
We are going to spend half a day in your town and I am looking for suggestions regarding a bike tour along the ocean and/or the harbor. Just a short ride is sufficient. Also, we would be especially interested in seeing the
fishermen bring in their lobsters. Are there certain times of day? on Sundays?(this is the likely day we will be in Gloucester). Is there anything that you would consider a must see or do that is exclusive to Gloucester?
Your help is appreciated. I promise to leave your town a little better off than when we arrive, if its possible. (8 people in their mid-fifties can’t do too much damage – that’s for sure).
Sincerely, Jim Rohan

Good Harbor Beach became Zombie Town on Saturday night, as the Blue Shutters Beachside Inn threw a Murder Mystery Night featuring a “walking dead” theme. The Blue Shutters innkeepers jumped right in along with guests of the inn – that’s Ed and AnnMarie Comer on the far left, Tony Sapienza on the far right and Patty Sapienza center front.

My buddies Peter and Vickie Van Ness are the creative masterminds behind some of the best websites in Gloucester. They are the driving forces behind http://gloucesterma.com/, www.gimmesound.com , http://rudderrestaurant.com/ and Cruiseport’s site-
Understanding the idea behind the www.gloucesterwebcam.com to drive visitors to our local business and community organization’s websites, Peter and Vickie did what I’m hoping others will do with their webcams- embed them on their sites to give visitors a reason to return to their otherwise static websites. If a prospective visitor knows that every time they click on that business or organization’s website they will have the live scenic view of beautiful Gloucester harbor, they will have a reason to return over and over again.
So here is the page on Cruiseport’s site which gives Gloucester Port Parameters for incoming vessels-
Brilliant! Great Job Vickie and Peter!
and great job by Tim at www.GloucesterBytes.com for doing a fantastic job with the webcam install!

The Cape Ann Theatre Collaborative (CAT) has generously dedicated a night to The Gloucester Dog Park by donating a portion of the proceeds to the November 17th performance of Sylvia to the dog park for the much needed funds to open by park by summer 2012. Please come and support both CAT and Dogs for this great event.
Sylvia is a play about a dog, the couple who adopts her, and the drama that results. It was written by A.R. Gurney and was first produced in 1995. This story about when a mid-life crisis threatens to unravel a marriage and a dog becomes the center of an unlikely love triangle in a heartwarming tale that examines relationships and the search for meaning in life, a hilarious romp that will have you howling for more.
The benefit will be held at Gorton Theater, home of the Gloucester Stage Company, 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. The reception and silent auction begins at 6:00 PM and the performance begins at 7:30. Get there early to bid on great items for both humans and canines! At intermission there will be a free raffle for a prize and be sure you stay for the entire performance as winners for the silent auction items will be announced that evening right after the show.
Tickets are available for Sylvia at the Weathervane, Animal Krackers (Gloucester & Rockport stores) and now The Essex Bird Shop & Pet Supply.
If paying by check, please make the checks out to The Cape Ann Theatre Collaborative. Contact our volunteers if you are interested in tickets or have any questions at gloucesterdogpark@gmail.com

Hi Joey,
The musicians were sensational—Jay Geil’s guitar mesmerizing and Doug Bell and Gerry Beaudoin are not only fabulously talented musicians but also super fantastic showman. The Jay Geils Revue is a power house of talent and they put on a great show. Doug, Jay, and Gerry were performing on the most gorgeous vintage guitars. Doug Bell shares your birthday!

A full schedule is planned this week–fall plantings, the premiere of The Butterfly Garden at Willow, and my lecture in New Hampshire. Rather than cooking half the night away Wednesday evening, I planned ahead and spent the weekend making lots of treats for Thursday’s premiere. I hope you can come!!
Thursday morning’s lecture in Amherst, Butterfly Gardening, promises to be a joyful, and informative, program. This summer my Fujifilm x100 gave me many new photos worth including in my lecture series and I couldn’t resist creating an entirely new slide show. I sorted though thousands of new photos over the weekend. And now, to tackle the video footage shot this summer—a daunting task ahead, but one I am sure will be rewarding!
I hope you are warm and cozy and not without power. Sixty-degree temperatures are predicted for the weekend! New England weather—as the adage goes-so very predictably unpredictable!
Warmest wishes, Kim
