Journey To Armenia: Three Generations From Genocide

Journey To Armenia: Three Generations From Genocide.

KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

By Nubar & Abby Alexanian

It started with a question: “Dad, will you go to Armenia with me?” And it’s turned into the largest project I’ve ever produced that will require more resources than I’m used to coming up with. It will be our first feature length documentary film. As we hope you’ll agree, it’s also a film with a sense of urgency that has to be made.

Here’s a brief description of Journey To Armenia: Three Generations From Genocide.

The year 2015 marks 100 years since the genocide of a million and a half Armenian people by the Ottoman Empire, an event still denied by many countries, including Turkey and the United States. Our film is about being Armenian – about what it means to the soul of a people to be denied this recognition for generations.

We will be filming our own family and many others both here and abroad in our search for identity, our place in the world and how we move forward – together – as a people. In June we will make our first of many trips to Turkey and Armenia, including a journey to the four villages our grandparents fled and where our family tree was severed.

You can follow the link below which will bring you to our Kickstarter Page to see the TRAILER and more info about our project.

CBS Boston Covers TheGMG/Farm Bar and Grille Bikini Speedo Dodgeball Tournament And Huge Props Go Out!

Huge huge props to the players, the sponsors, the SPECTATORS, the Farm staff, to www.NextStepnet.org , to our photographers the Rabbit, Kim Smith, Donna Ardizzoni, Craig Kimberley and David Cox, to media coverage from Fox News, CBS and Desi Smith from The Gloucester Daily Times, to my boy Frankie Gwynne, fantastic organizer Rebecca Linquata, Ryan Cox, Noah Goldstein, THE MAN Matty K on the music and someone that worked somewhat silently throughout the whole day and deserves a lot of recognition as well, Brad Atkinson who made sure everything was handled professionally operations wise.

Honestly everyone worked in concert and without one single element of that whole equation the event wouldn’t have been half of what it was. The whole thing just spiraled toward the sky with positive energy throughout the day with the fans feeding off of the music feeding off of the players feeding off the smoothness of the awesome Farm Staff feeding off the backing by the sponsors feeding off Bill from Next Step who as the head of that organization steps up to the mike and proceeds to tear away his sweats to belt out the National Anthem wearing nothing but his speedo and tie.

Good on all of you who came out and supported it- each and every one of you played a major role in its success!

(anyone know if that cameraman from Fox got laid?)

I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THE VIDEOS!!!!!

A message for all Gloucester folks from Doug Brendel, "The Outsidah" humor-columnist for the Ipswich Chronicle:

I know Ipswich isn’t Gloucester, but Joey will certify that I AM a longtime Friend of the Blog, so I hope all the good folks "back east" in Gloucester will come to our party on Thursday night!

We’re celebrating the release of my new cartoon-illustrated book, Only in Ipswich, poking fun at our fine little town, which people in Gloucester consider to be "out west." THE CARTOONS ARE FOR YOU, JOEY! I know you like the pictures more than the words. Hahaha!

The party is at Time & Tide Fine Art, 4 Market St., Ipswich, from 6 to 9 pm. Refreshments, lots of laughs, I’ll be reading some funny parts of the book, and autographing copies of the book until more sensible people make me stop. Yeah, you can buy the book that night if you want to, but you don’t have to.

Gloucester DOES get mentioned on page 83 of the book, in a bit about a friend of mine (an Ipswich town employee, no less!) who lived on Wingaersheek Beach until Hurricane Irene scared him away.

See ya Thursday night! Anyone can email me via unconventional@dougbrendel.com if they have any questions.

You Can Now Pin Us! Pinterest Share Button Under Each Post

With the huge success of Pinterest I and many others wrote WordPress asking for a Pin It! button under each post as a sharing option.  Well the folks at WordPress came through and it is now an option for those of you who use Pinterest to collect and share ideas.

I hear it’s very addictive.

So under each post (or if you don’t see it if you click on the title of that post) you will now have a Pinterest share button in addition to the Facebook, Twitter, email, Google +, Linked In and Press this buttons.

Here is a screen shot of what those options look like when you are viewing the blog on the website http://www.goodmorninggloucester.com as opposed to the nightly feed in your email.  Even if you subscribe and get the daily posts emailed to you at the end of the night you really ought to bookmark us as we update every hour on the hour from 6AM-8PM on the blog itself.

Pullling the masts out of Schooner Adventure From Barry O’Brien

This last Wednesday down at The Gloucester Marine Railways, Dan Mayer or Mayer Tree Service drove his 125’ crane down from Essex and pulled the masts out of the Schooner Adventure. The plan is to inspect, repair and replace whatever is needed in preparation for sailing.

The folks behind the Schooner Adventure are hell-bent and determined to have her sailing again for the Schooner Festival. It’s has been a huge undertaking, and it’s not over, yet, but this short video gives you a little insight into the quality of the people who are bringing the Adventure back to sailing condition and the heritage of fishing under sail alive.

Best regards to you and your whole Good Morning Gloucester team! It’s wonderful what you folks do.

Barry O’Brien
