The Evolution of The Baby Car Seat From a Dad’s Perspective
Remember having your first child and going to Babies R Us to shop for the first baby car seat? Remember the rows and rows and huge variety from super masculine Jeep ones to dainty pink flowered ones and then the wide range in quality, the five point harness systems and all?
You buy the car seat and then take it down to the police station for the safety check and instructions on how to install it properly, not wanting to take any chances with the safety of your about to be born baby.
And then your wife gives birth and you have to take this baby home for the first time. They actually trust you to sustain life for this little peanut that is tiny and weak and soft and you have to strap the baby into the car seat for the first time.
You’re sweating bullets hoping to god you don’t smoosh the baby. Your body contorted in unnatural ways reaching over the seat and trying to be as gentle as you can while in a position that when you do it for the first time seems like some mean ass yoga instructor is trying to punishing you for being a bad student.
And every day for years you put yourself in that weird position to buckle your children into their car seats cursing the placement of the belts and the hooks that secure the straps and contorting your body, saying to yourself “I can’t wait til they can buckle themselves in.”
The baby car seats become receptacles for every spilled juice box, dried up and crusted on yogurt stick, cracker, cookie and pretzel crumb. Stained, abused and no matter how much you think when you paid ALLL THE MONEY for the best one you could afford, the thing is inevitably going to look like its been through war torn Iraq and back as seating for a pack of wild monkeys.
And then your babies start to grow and the baby car seat gets nastier and nastier.
And then one day you look back after cursing at the car seat for all those times you were uncomfortable buckling in your kids in the rain and the snow it hits you…
Pretty soon they’re not gonna need car seats.
And that’s gonna be a really sad day.
Ward 3 Councilor Represents! On Top Of The Green Monsta!
Joey, I was on top of the green monsta yesterday afternoon with the band Fun. I tried to get them to hold the sticker but had no luck. This is the best I could do to represent GMG.
I should of stuck it to one of their backs and snaped a photo.

Artist Reception for John Caggiano at BankGloucester
BankGloucester is hosting a public reception for Rockport painter John Caggiano on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 11 am to 1 pm in the Bank’s lobby. A collection of his work is on display at the bank through March 8, 2013. The artist travels extensively, both here and abroad, painting on location. This plein aire approach enables him to capture the essence of the time and place that he interprets into his bright and colorful “Impressionistic-realism” style. The work is further enhanced by his daring use of a palette knife, enhancing the effects of his brushwork.
Meet John and speak with him regarding his work at this reception. Light refreshments will be served. BankGloucester is located at 160 Main Street in Gloucester.

Ask Joey C: Cocky Teen or Obnoxious Adolescent? With A Reader Poll
This just in to the Ask Joey Mailbag-
Horny 32 year old asks-
Hi Joey I’d like your opinion on a situation that just happened here at the restaurant.
I’m a server at #f%&(*^ Restaurant, I’m 32 years old and consider myself attractive. Our barback has been attempting to make small talk more and more with me as he knows I’ve recently broken up with my long term boyfriend. I’m not sure if I should be flattered or not because I don’t even think he’s 21 years old. He’s attractive and polite but I’m over a decade older than him.
I will give him credit for his delivery. In the course of our latest conversation he half jokingly/half serious suggested we get together and play darts and then we could go on a date. What impressed me was his confidence in asking me out even though I’m much older than him and his delivery which left it open for me to accept or deny his advance without making it awkward the next time I see him at work.
Is it creepy for me to go out with him if he’s under 21 and I’m 32?
(Name withheld for obvious privacy reasons)
Joey C Response
Let me get right to the major points here.
I’m proud of this kid. To be that far along in years to toss out that kind of delivery speaks volumes about his game. He may be under 21 but his actions and delivery give him big time props in my book. He’s also much less likely to fall asleep on your ass and take care of your womanly needs if you are more or less looking for the wham bam athletic kinda session or two. What he probably hasn’t mastered at the tender young age of under twenty is how to please you in a slower oral down south kinda way (if you get my drift).
It’s probably going to be more of a wham bam, hop on hop off situation. But hey, if you were in a long term relationship that might be just what you’re looking for for a couple go-arounds and to get back in the saddle.
Anyway I wouldn’t let the age thing get in the way if you’re just looking for some nookie and who’s to say only men can date younger women. It’s not like you’re gonna marry the kid, by the sounds of things you’re just looking for some sugar.
Props to the youngster. If he has the finesse and smarts to lay a line on you that smooth, why not give him a shot at the title?
