TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR CHAMBER’S ANNUAL $25,000 GAME

Reserve your ticket for the BEST ODDS in town!

Join the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, October 1, for the Chamber’s annual $25,000 Game. The event will be held from 5:00 – 7:00pm at The Gloucester House Restaurant, 63 Rogers Street, Gloucester, MA, and one person will walk away the lucky winner of $10,000. As one of the most exciting and fun-filled events on Cape Ann this Fall, it will also feature a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and much more. A total of $25,000 in prizes!

Tickets are available on a first come first served basis at the Chamber office located at 33 Commercial Street in Gloucester and are $100 each. A limit of 500 tickets will be sold. Each ticket admits the ticket holder and one guest to the Gloucester House festivities on October 1^st and includes a light dinner. Prizes are as follows:

Grand Prize:  $10,000

2^nd Prize:  $5,000
3^rd Prizes:  $2,500

4^th Prizes:  $1,000 each (6 lucky winners)
5^th Prize: $500 (3 lucky winners)

Total: $25,000

Trails & Sails Event at Maritime Gloucester

Good morning! This is Jordan Olson from LEAP for Education. We’re currently looking for volunteers in the Gloucester area to help with our College Success Program. I’ve attached a volunteer flyer and I was hoping that you would be able to post it onto your GMG blog!

We’re especially looking for volunteers that can be there on Mondays for the Gloucester Program. Here is a bit about what a volunteer can expect to do:

• Prior to the meetings: Reading the pre-planned lesson plan and preparing for the activities by collecting materials,etc.
• Setting up the room, putting out the snacks, writing agenda on board for students, turning on computers, etc.
• Taking weekly attendance and keeping track of students’ grades on a quarterly basis
• Reminding students of upcoming meetings and follow up with students who are not meeting attendance standards
• Monitoring and assisting students as they work on assigned tasks (such as resume writing, college and/or scholarship applications, financial aid forms, registering for college entrance exams like SAT’s, Subject Tests, ACT’s, etc.)
• Cleaning up, putting away snacks, etc.
• Reflecting on the lesson and what the students got out of the activities so we can make changes for the future

Husband and wife picker/appraiser team Eric and Michelle Myers clean out junk-filled New England attics looking for hidden treasures. They’ll clean the space for free, but they get to keep what they find. And in these old Colonial houses, there’s no telling what’s hidden behind the rafters, from valuable vintage toys to mint-condition collectibles. After they pick the place clean, they transform the attic into a bright new space the whole family can enjoy.

Got my flu shot at CVS yesterday.  Took five minutes.  Most insurance covers it without a co-pay.  The lady who gave it to me was explaining how much overwhelming evidence there is to say it saves lives and then brought up the anti-flouride crusaders and how much misinformation is out there.
She also told me it takes three weeks to take effect,  so get ahead of flu season and potentially save lives!
