Yankee Swaps Are the Worst
First off by now I’ve come to accept that whenever I’m involved with a Yankee Swap that I may as well accept the fact that I’m going to walk away with the worst bottom of the barrel re-gifted piece of crap Yankee Swap gift possible.
Going in with realistic expectations will ease the pain of getting it stuffed up your butt after you spent a good amount of time thinking of a good prize and putting in the effort only to get someone else’s re-gifted snow scraper or some shit like that.
My go-to Yankee swap present that I usually put into the mix is either a Gift card or lottery tickets for the amount of what the Yankee Swap was for.
Doesn’t it kill you though when the person who inevitably steals your halfway decent selection with a late round steal is the person that put into the pile some really thoughtless crappy re-gift.
It’s the worst. The absolute worst.

Bob Morris "Spirit Lobster"
Good morning Joey & GMGer’s.
I was doing store inventory when I discovered a bottle of Beauport vodka missing. I looked down to see one of Bob Morris’ “Spirit Lobster” racing out the door with it. Our bottles seem to fit nicely inside the little bugger as a gift package. The trap wire lobster seemed to be on a mission so I followed it outside. There, behold, I saw it was having a meetup with an old friend. A nice pre-game cocktail shared with Santa while discussing holiday gifts. Note the martini glass is held by the Pincher Claw. I found a couple of broken glasses which it tried to hold with the Crusher Claw.
We have both the Spirit Lobster and the Bottle Trap available here at the Ryan & Wood Distillery, along with other items of interest. It is rewarding to sell these items and showcase local crafters like Lobsterman Bob Morris (Spirit Lobster) and Enza Iacono (Wine Trap). Mention you saw this on GMG.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

Socks are nice. Books are great. Candy, treats, and cookies are all tasty and fun to eat. A new Lexus with one of those red bows would be totally awesome. But one powerful gift says:
“I love you so much that I want you to be happy, healthy, and live as long and fulfilling a life as possible.”
That gift is a certificate to Cape Ann Power Yoga.
You can buy one right now online and print it out or come in to the studio 15 minutes before or after any class on our schedule to pick up a certificate in person.
and then:
the person you give the gift certificate to can go online or come in to the studio to use it any time. If they are savvy (which they must be to have a friend like you) they have until January 2 to take advantage of our special Holiday…

GMG Electricity and Alternative Energy Series: ATTTENTION- It’s Time To Renew Your Plan If You Opted For A Six Month Plan
Last winter I shared what my plan for my mom’s electricity supplier was. At the time the best option IMO was Think Energy. If you signed up and locked in congratulations, you saved a bunch of money over National Grid’s variable pricing plan which generally spikes way up in the winter due to there not being enough power plants in the northeast to create power and National Grid having to go out and bid in the open market for electricity.
Anyway, I signed my mom up for a six month plan and it was up about a month ago.
This is just a reminder for anyone else who did what we did to contact Think Energy and either resign with them or lock in with another supplier so you aren’t at the mercy of National Grid.
It takes all of a few minutes to do
Here’s the number for Think Energy- 1-866-252-0078
Here’s Direct Energy- 888-305-3828
Call both, get the best rate and if you want, lock in for 6-12 months.
I have no idea about where electricity prices will go but I know if you’re at the mercy of a variable pricing plan you could be paying way more in the winter months.
I’m locking in like we did last year.
JUST BE AWARE THAT IF YOU DO NOTHING AND YOUR TERM EXPIRES FROM LAST YEAR WHEN YOU LOCKED IN, THEN YOU”RE PROBABLY BACK AT THE MERCY OF NATIONAL GRID.
SO CALL AND EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS!
Just lookin out for my peeps. I have no vested interest other than to make sure you are aware.

Welcoming 2016 is a great time to “Honor a Teacher” in the Gloucester Public Schools
Welcoming 2016 is a great time to“Honor a Teacher” in the Gloucester Public Schools
A year ago, the Gloucester Education Foundation (GEF) introduced the “Honor a Teacher” Program to recognize your child’s teachers, middle school house or teaching teams, school, and any staff member(s) whether it is a cafeteria worker, custodian, or guidance counselor. More than 80 awards, totaling $3,000, have been raised by this Honor a Teacher Program and donated to GEF, a 501(C)(3). The Gloucester Education Foundation drives innovation, encourages creativity, and expands student opportunities in the Gloucester Public Schools. This recognition program provides an opportunity for parents, grandparents and community members to honor individuals and teams in the school community who have meaningfully impacted your child’s education.
Students, grandparents/community members and parents can hit the link, www.thinkthebest.org and click on “Honor a Teacher” and complete the prompts to process a secure debit/credit card payment or donation via Pay Pal. No amount is too small and tax deductible donations remain confidential.
There is a spot on the form to include an optional short message to a special teacher, staff member or team/house that is included in the body of the acknowledgement letter. Your recipient receives a letter acknowledging a student or family gift.
The Gloucester Education Foundation is grateful to have so many dedicated faculty and staff members in the Gloucester Public Schools and this “Honor a Teacher” Program is one special way to say thanks during the 2015 holiday season and the upcoming New Year.

AWESOME ROCKPORT GRANT WINNER
AWESOME ROCKPORT GRANT WINNER
Toad Hall, a local non-profit bookstore that donates all profits to local environmental projects was the winner at the inaugural Awesome Rockport pitch night Monday December 14th. Toad Hall received $1,000 from the local micro grant foundation to fund the development of a new website. The new site will, for the first time, give customers the ability to purchase books online from Toad Hall. The new website will also allow the bookstore to enhance its outreach to customers and the community through mailing lists, blog posts and a monthly newsletter.
The newly established Rockport chapter of the Awesome Foundation solicits proposals from the community quarterly and chooses the top three to attend a public pitch night. The three finalists make their case before the local trustees who each donate $100 toward the award. The top vote getter walks away with $1,000 in cash, no strings attached. Proposals to make Rockport more awesome can be made at http://www.awesomefoundation.org/chapters/rockport
The three finalists pictured here (left to right) are: Ardis Francoeur (with winning microgrant in hand!), Sarah Kelly from Rockport Exchange, and Stephanie Woolf from Rockport Music.
