Sassy Eco Bags

Susan O’Leary

 Designer

Sassy Eco Bags are uniquely designed handbags, purses and totes.  Each bag has been handcrafted from discarded coffee or tea bags from area coffee houses.  By rescuing these materials and reusing them, they are kept away from dumps and landfills.  The materials used in each bag are durable as well as attractively functional.  I hope you enjoy the bag.

Feel free to feel good about helping the Earth and looking Sassy at the same time.

Sassy Eco Bags came about from the idea that if we can lighten our Carbon Footprint and lessen the amount of trash we throw into dump sites, we can help the Earth.  If any of the trash we produce can be utilized for fashion, function and fun, then let’s go for it!

Bags are available in a variety of sizes, styles, colors and schemes.  Please contact me by email or phone if you are interested in placing an order or if you would like more information about Sassy Eco Bags.

Best,

Susan

Wall of Figure and Effect video

From Deb Clarke;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RstCgSCb-k8

I gave my drummer boy David a camera. A few nights ago he had to calibrate one of his lights for a performance and used the large “Four Stand” painting. He liked what the lights did to the painting, so he composed some music and synced it to the shots of “Four Stand”, throwing in some other paintings to vary the visual image.

Maybe we will have a black room show someday with spots hitting the paintings under his direction.

I like the music and his unique way of seeing of my work.

best,
deb.

Design a personalized gift at Zazzle.

from: deb Clarke,

EJ’s recent post about her use of the art licensing site Zazzle.com inspired me to give it a try.  I haven’t tried to sell my artwork on-line, but the ease of using zazzle to put my art on hundreds of products drew me right in.  My zazzle store ‘clarkeAHHT’ is in a testing stage.  I’ve designed some button badges, refrigerator magnets and one poster.

My friend Paul isn’t crazy about the idea of his mug on a poster (it’s a small poster), but his face on a button makes him beam  with the words “I am somebody!”.  Yes, Paul, you are somebody and here’s your mug on a button.  It’s a 2″ button for 2.45.  my royalty?  a quarter on each button sold.  not enough to make me rich, but enough to make me want to have fun designing these things.

maybe I’ll design a sneaker with his mug on it next.  I’m amazed at how many items are offered through this site.  everything is printed on demand and is advertized as ‘ready to ship’.

EJ’s advice:  work those tags.  I’ve applied ‘glosta’ and ‘goodmorninggloucester’ and ‘paulie walnuts’ tags to my items.  if you go to the link you will see Paul’s badge and lots of other gloucester items created by other folk.

thank you gmg for putting together such a great site.  it not only keeps me up-to-date on the uniquely ‘glosta’ doings, but is helping me to step-up my marketing efforts through the generosity of other folk sharing their tips and experiences.
best,
deb.

HOPE!

HOPE

We all have Hope, whatever your going through.

I hope I’d win Powerball. Maybe Next Time.

“Hope never abandons you; you abandon it”

 George Weinberg

Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.
Thich Nhat Hanh quotes (Vietnamese    I Like this quote I dislike this quoteAnyone can give up, it’s the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that’s true strength

“When things are bad, we take comfort in the thought that they could always be worse. And when they are, we find hope in the thought that things are so bad they have to get better.”

This post is for a few good friends who are going through difficult times. Maybe for myself  and you also.

Amazing photos of The Airshow Disaster.

These Amazing photos show  great detail of a recent Airshow Disaster.

The pilot at low  level
had no  control over  his

aircraft.  It narrowly

misses  a crowd

gathered  for the air show and  slams

into  four buildings. One can  only imagine the horror  of the occupants inside  those buildings

It Probably scared the crap out of them.

Thanks to my Brother for the heads up.

My name is Anita Coullard Dziedzic.

Local 777 Training School Dedication … 9-19-09

I am the President and Founder of the Sgt David Memorial Fund, 2010
I work in the Glastonbury, CT, Stop & Shop as a Prepared Foods Manager

David was my son who died while serving his country in Iraq on August 1, 2005.

David was a member of the Marine Corp’s Sniper Unit Weapons Division.  He joined the Marine Corp in 1994 at the age of 21.  While in the reserves, David was called to duty to serve in South Carolina, the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.  He completed his commitment in 2003 and went on to earn a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning at Porter & Chester Institute then went on to be a member of the Local 777 J.A.T.C. and going to school.

In 2004 David re-enlisted in the Marines out of the love of his country.
In January 2005, David and his unit were deployed to Iraq.  He would call home often to keep in touch. He would tell me that everything was okay and he was safe. I would find out later that our men go without often.

While in Iraq, David graduated from the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 777  Apprentice Training. I was there to accept his deploma.  .
In the early morning of August 1, 2005, David’s unit had set up on a plateau at the Iraq-Syrian border to observe and gather information.  It was just after daybreak when a group of insurgents ambushed David’s unit with semi-automatic weapons and on that fateful morning, David earned his second Purple Heart as he died alongside five of his brothers.

The following morning, I was waiting for my sister to arrive for a visit when a car pulled into our driveway.   Two Marines exited the vehicle.   As they approached I saw the Marines logo on the folder he was carrying.  I uttered the words, “Oh no” to which he responded “Yes Ma’am” to which I replied “Oh no”.
I quickly composed myself as David would have wanted me to do.   It wasn’t supposed to end this way, my son who was so young, so full of life, had his life ended in an instant by terrorists whose sole purpose in life is to hate.

My son chose to be in Iraq because he loved his country and I couldn’t be more proud of my son David and the choice that he made.

David made the ultimate sacrifice for his country and I have made a promise to support the troops & to preserve his memory for as long as I live.

The Sgt David Coullard Memorial Fund is a  501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization. We are registered with the Internal Revenue Services Charitable Organizations & Attorney General’s Office for Charitable Organizations.
