Joe, congratulations on 15 years of Good Morning Gloucester.
As my wife, Kristin, and I have been trying to relocate out to Cape Ann for years, a local friend of Kristin’s recommended subscribing to Good Morning Gloucester.
Now that we’ve been out here for good since August, we couldn’t have done it without you and Katelyn. Katelyn was incredible in helping us find a rental while we relocated and sold our house several states away. We are ecstatic to be here for Gloucester’s 400th year and look forward to being part of the community for years to come. Kristin is involved with Literary Cape Ann, the Cape Ann Museum and Gloucester 400. Gloucester 400 just published her Cape Ann tale:
One of my 2023 resolutions is to become as involved in the community as my wife has done.
Living here is an embarrassment of riches. We look forward to every edition of Good Morning Gloucester.

I dragged my boys to Market Basket at about 7:00 last night, but after a long day we didn’t feel like going home, unpacking groceries, and making dinner. When I asked the boys if they wanted to go sit down for a quick dinner there was no hesitation about where they wanted to go and what they wanted to eat. Minglewood sushi for the win. They always get tuna avocado Maki rolls, but I got the sushi special, the Harborside Roll (shrimp tempura, avocado & spicy tuna topped with sashimi, mango & pineapple-sweet chili sauce). DELICIOUS! The boys also shared a cobb salad….likewise pretty fantastic.


You may have seen in an earlier post that All Purpose Flowers had moved to 15 Lexington Ave Magnolia. I needed to order some flowers so off I went. Though it was a rainy day outside, it was sunny and bright inside. Linda, the proprietor, is still moving in and arranging but there is already an impressive selection of local gift items as well as the usual floral offerings. Things were already hopping when I arrived and I enjoyed browsing while I waited. I think you will too so stop by when you have the chance! Best wishes Linda!





Everything was elite. Everything.
Highlights of the many highlights were the pork chop, the steak tar tar, tuna tar tar, chicken.
I expected hiccups- there were none that I witnessed which is an extraordinary feat opening right out of the gate.
Our server Liam did a great job.
Neal Maver and Company are going to do extremely well providing an upscale dining experience that exceeds the hype.
We’re very happy for him and his staff.

I’d normally cook roasts offset the coals on one of my Weber Kettles, kettle temp 250-275 bringing the roast to internal 115F then remove it, rest for 10-15 minutes and let the coals get super hot with the lid cracked and then rotate it a minute on each side for a perfect crust.
But I was lazy. I didn’t want to load it in the truck and bring it. So we did it in the oven. 😞
..Shame
It was good. Just not great like we’re accustomed to.

We were thrilled with the caliber of applicants we interviewed from our local area as well as across the country. It is my great pleasure to share with you that Erina McWilliam-Lopez has accepted the role of Executive Director of the Cape Ann YMCA, beginning July 11, 2022.
Many of you may be familiar with Erina as the creator and owner of Bliss Bites Cafe at our Y. This was where we were first introduced to Erina’s entrepreneurial talents, dedication to socially responsible business, and passion for community. Erina has more than a decade of professional experience successfully developing and implementing social impact programming for institutions including The Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Silicon Valley, Lynn University in Boca Raton Florida, and the Intentional Endowments Network in Greater Boston.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Salem State University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey California.
Having grown up in Gloucester, Erina is a part of our community. She lives and understands the importance of our Y core values, mission, commitment to healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. She has enthusiasm, optimism, and passion for Cape Ann and is ready to inspire, engage and support our members, staff, and program participants while leading our Y forward.
Erina lives in Cape Ann with her husband and two children. When she’s not thinking big and creating impact, she enjoys reading, playing soccer with her son, and doing as many group exercise classes at the Y as possible!
