BoatGrub Doing Its Thing

You may have heard Joey’s podcast with Hugh Mitchell from BoatGrub….and here he is in action.  We were on the water off the back side of Wingaersheek over the weekend and got a kick out of watching Hugh delivering food to some of the boats near us.

If you missed this episode of Gloucestercast Live you can listen to it here

BoatGrub is the newest addition to the North Shore community catering to restaurants wishing to expand to the waterfront.

BoatGrub will deliver food orders to boats, docks, and beachgoers between the hours of 12 noon to 7 pm Friday to Sunday in both the Annisquam & Manchester-by-the-Sea Areas of Operation (AO). The delivery skipper will call to confirm the pick-up location. Make sure to look for the Boston Whaler with the BoatGrub flag. For orders to boats, or your private dock, please specify boat name and location or home dock location when placing the order.  Look for our App and new restaurants coming soon.

Back to the Azorean!

The Azorean seemed a good choice to wrap up the holiday weekend. We sat inside and took note the plexiglass has been installed between booths. They are unable to offer the bread and oil just yet, but Jim’s chicken with butternut squash ravioli was a big hit! I ordered some pizza despite the lady at a nearby table stating stridently that she was NOT having pizza for dinner….haha..no judgement because I thoroughly enjoyed mine!

Join us as we dance to music from the musical West Side Story.  Many of the songs come from an album called The Songs of West Side Story.  Contemporary artists do their take on the classic Bernstein tunes.  Some choreography for this routine is from Casey who did Slumdog Millionaire and some from my teacher Katie Capelli and from me.  So it is also a choreographic compilation.  Say that three times fast!

If you are new to Nia with Linda, these streaming classes are free.  Share with anyone who you feel needs a little movement and fun in their lives during this period of social isolation.

So here is how it works.  It will be easier for you if you download the Zoom client for meetings for a desktop or laptop, or the app for phones and tablets.

A little something from POP Gallery

Peggy & Team Pop want to wish everyone a safe and satisfying holiday weekend.

We wanted to celebrate our 10th successful year on Main Street in Gloucester to mark our own INDEPENDENCE as a genuinely unique and welcoming one of a kind boutique/gallery! Many friends and families have helped us along the way to truly embody our mantra  “Shop local Stress less at Gloucester’s Emporium of Cool”. 10 years later we applaud our city and pat ourselves on the backs for sticking it out through thick & thin. Commitment to equality, great design at terrific prices, local & global goods and a quirky sense of humor are still our guiding principles.
Many many thanks!
Come in this weekend to sip a glass of wine or beer to celebrate!

Turkeys, and More on July 4th — pat morss

We made some normalcy of an unusual 4th of July, which started with evidence of a growing turkey population.

Mom turkey “herding cats” in our driveway
Traffic jam
Bunnies are everywhere, and not afraid
Inner Harbor sail – the fleet is in
Fishing group returning
Drinks and entertainment overlooking Lighthouse Cove
Adding artichokes to our traditional July 4th dinner
Lobsters from Joey’s place
Boston Pops virtual celebration – “Bugler’s Holiday”
Finishing off with Norwegian aquavit in chilled USS Constitution glasses

Hawk Harassment

Some of you may remember we had a hawk nest in the backyard last year but they did not return to that nest this year and we have been seeing fewer hawks than usual. Lately, however, I have noticed a hawk watching me from the old Coast Guard tower nearly everyday on my walk. I like to think he waits around for me.

Anyhow, a little story developed recently as the hawk was harassed by red winged blackbirds and forced to move his perch twice to avoid them. It’s my understanding that bigger birds do not chase the smaller ones away when they are being harassed in order to save energy needed for hunting and daily life. I understand, but, c’mon Hawk…a little talon or beak action in their direction might give you a break…….

These pictures tell some of that story from Dolliver’s Neck.

2020 Q1&2: Real Estate Sales Update

Our advice is about the same:
  • If you want to buy on Cape Ann, be ready to execute quickly and anticipate competition.
  • If you are thinking about selling, getting on the market now until Halloween will maximize your ROI.
  • If you want to sell but are concerned about finding a new home that makes sense, just rent one. There will be purchase “opportunities” in the future.

(PS: NOW would be a good time to buy in Boston.)

We hope this helps.

Relaxing Dinner at Tonno

We had a wonderfully relaxing (and very safe and clean) dining experience with inside seating at Tonno recently. We were warmly greeted and seated inside as requested, along with 4-5 other parties at the time. The outdoor seating was tempting but honestly I wanted to see the inside again! It’s such a warm welcoming setting. All table distanced appropriately and all staff were masked. Contact tracing information is taken upon arrival in a precautionary measure.

The service was friendly, gracious and efficient even when I spilled my drink…….We ordered the garlic bread appetizer with prosciutto. Genius combo! It was a great way to prepare for the chicken parm and the lobster rigatoni special ( with Capt. Joe’s lobster). Each entree was prepared perfectly and delicious. I forgot to take the cannoli dessert picture but they were creamy and very tasty. Looking forward to summer at Tonno! See you there.
