Free Guided Studio/Gallery Tours
The Rocky Neck Art Colony is holding a series of free Guided Studio and Gallery Tours on Sunday, June 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Participants will have a chance to see private artist studios — usually open only by appointment, galleries normally open limited hours and popular studios and galleries with new work.
You may visit the East Gloucester Studios on your own by car. The studios will be open from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Please follow the map in the Studio/Gallery Guide, that is available in the Rocky Neck Parking lot and at the Cultural Center Gallery, 6 Wonson Street or download a pdf Gallery Guide.
Four ½-mile walking tours are scheduled on the Rocky Neck peninsula beginning at 2:00 PM.
One of the highlights of the tours is a visit to the beautiful new gallery FLOAT (with artists Barbara Moody and Kathleen Gerdon Archer) on Madfish Wharf and private studios of artists rarely open to the public including the Ruth Mordecai, Marilyn Swift, Sinikka Nogello, David Calvo, Rokhaya Waring, and Ten Way Studios. The Guided Tour also includes visits to the studio/galleries of L. A. Dahlmer, Paul George and KT Morse, Elynn Kroger, Judythe Evans Meagher, Stephen LaPierre, Diana Pasquarello, Joe’s Fresh Fish Prints, Brenda Malloy, and Sallie Strand. Visitors will also have a chance to see the studio/galleries of deceased artists John Nesta and Gordon and Judith Goetemann. In addition, the tour visits a range of other eclectic galleries and shops, some with new artists and many with new artwork: State of the Art Gallery, Side Street Gallery, The Cultural Center Gallery, James B. Hand Fine Art, Gallery on the Neck, Imagine, Gallery 53, Madfish Gallery, North Shore Arts, and The Cottage on Smith Cove. Along the way visitors will see artists at work and may partake in refreshments and special gifts reserved for Tour participants.
All Tours start at The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, Gloucester on Sunday, June 9.
