Holy cow! Green flash! Then I took the photo.

Sunday, 5:45AM Don’t see that every day. First time for me. I really need a second hand and Siri needs to tell me exactly when the sun rises. 5:46 does not cut it. Shot this between 5:45 AM and 5:46 AM. It has a greenish tint but it was really green about a third of a second before. Kool-Aid Lime green. Stella was not impressed.

  1. All my live I’ve been watching for “the green flash”…well, ever since Yankee had an article on it decades ago. (I used to be a P. I. summer resident.) Congratulations for actually seeing it. WOW!

    1. Same with me, decades and decades of mostly sunsets and not seeing it. Friends who worked on Woods Hole research vessels saw them standing watch. I’ve been concentrating on sunrises now but they are harder since that moment the first limb of the sun pops out is always when the dog wants something or my iPhone wants to switch to clown mode. This time I just watched it. “I think that is green! It is green!”Then by the time I thought to snap a pic it was fading. It was really less than a second.

I’m getting serious now. Sky Safari Astronomy program will tell me to the second when the sun breaks and I have a “Clocks” App on the iPhone that shows me atomic clock seconds. Now that I know I’m not dreaming I’ll nail another.

      Tomorrow 5:44:49 AM. 9% cloud cover. 😦
