CAPE ANN VERNAL POND TEAM ANNUAL MEETING WEDNESDAY MARCH 9TH

Rick Roth writes,

“We had two really cool Snakes of New England and the World presentations for The Westborough Community Land Trust last Saturday.  Great crowd  over 300 people.  Fabulous job by our volunteers: Ian, Dawn, Becca, John and Colleen.  Snakes were well-behaved except for the African house snake which pooped on Becca.

We will have some fundraising activities this year, so get in touch and let me know you’d like to join the Fundraising Committee.  We will have a yard sale on Saturday May28th.  And Charlie Farren will be performing a benefit show for us of his acoustic music.  We’re still working out the details for that show, but its going to be fantastic.

Big Giant Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team Annual Meeting-  Wednesday  March 9, 2016  6:30pm at The Get Outside Center, 186 Main St., Gloucester.  The public is invited.  This means you, especially if you’re hoping to volunteer or join a committee or something, but you don’t have to.  Please let us know if you plan to attend so we will can get the right amount of snacks.  Very important.

And… do you know of any vernal pools out there that need to be certified?  Or, even if you suspect its a vernal pool, but aren’t really sure.  Please let us know about it.  And let us know if you know who owns the property.
See you on Wednesday,  Rick

we only have one earth, save it”

Hula Moon Serves Up Breakfast

While my boys could simply live on their shaved ice, I’m pretty excited that Rockport’s Hula Moon is now open for breakfast.  The breakfast and the view are great…the owners couldn’t be nicer!  Go pay them a visit.

Lisa Steinocher Represents! In San Diego

Dear Joey,
Hope you remember meeting my Dad and me on your dock summer 2014. I’m the missed placed yankee who lives too far inland and my Dad’s an original Gloucester boy.  I was so honored when I received my stickers from you and forgot to share my trip to San Diego fall of 2014 to visit my daughter. Well it’s that daughters birthday today so in honor of her 25th bday I am sending you this picture. We weren’t able to get to Gloucester last summer but hoping the whole family can make it this year, including my daughter and son in law in San Diego!

Traffic Stopped 128 South, Manchester

The traffic is at a standstill in Manchester (and probably further back by now) due to an accident before the Manchester athletic club and exit 15.  I hope that everyone is OK.  plan accordingly. Four additional spin outs after the accident clears as well. One headed northbound. The roads are very icy. Be safe out there!

Update:  As soon as we got past this accident there were several “spin outs” and smaller accidents…both North and South bound.

Last summer I quit my job in order to walk the 2650 mile Pacific Crest Trail in its entirety. Along the way I took hundreds of videos and taught myself to play ukulele. The song is one I composed myself on trail.

8 Years in the Carving: Morgan Faulds Pike MasterAltarpiece nearly finished

pictures from Morgan’s website

Cat Ryan submits-

Realism in so many particulars, gestures, and glances is difficult to capture in any media. One of the impressive commissions Morgan Faulds Pike has been immersed in these last eight years, a special carved wooden altarpiece, is nearly complete. It’s a gentle, quiet stunner made up of a center panel and two side panels. Morgan created the reliquary, too.

St. Mary’s in Rockport is raising money for its installation. Follow this Crowdfunding link for more details. Donations can be sent directly to St. Mary’s and marked “Reredos”, Attn: Rev Karin E Wade, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 24 Broadway, Rockport, 01966

‘Reredos’ describes the freestanding art behind (and above) an altar.

A photo history of the project is available at MorganFauldsPike.com.
