Goldfish can be a challenge! When our kids were little we had a pair of goldfish, an orange fish named Cleo and a beautiful black fish named Nile. They miraculously lived for abut four years until the time when a film crew was shooting a movie in our home. The hot lights on set killed the fish. We tried a few times more with new fish but never had much success after Cleo and Nile. Hugs to the girls.

Did you use tap water? The PH needs to be as neutral as possible. Don’t give up, go by another……. Springwater (purchased) at room temperature, wash and rinse the rocks and foliage (tap is fine for rinsing, not for living) and the fish will be so happy.

I did all that. Every single step. Spring water. Water conditioner. Rinsed the rocks, Rinsed the foliage. Dead fish.
