A friend sent me this 1857 2.5″ x 3.5″ admission ticket for a shareholder’s meeting in Gloucester. I’m thinking that the “Gloucester House Hall” is the old Town Hall on Washington Street (now the VFW). What a “Lebee” and the “List of Cash” are a mystery to me. Any thoughts?

I believe that Lebee is levee which means reception.

I agree. Lebee means levee.

I am a volunteer archivist at a state historic site in Missouri. I’ve run into quite a few lotteries of one sort or another. I never quite get the exact rules. But this looks much like the other schemes I’ve seen. I hadn’t run into the levee term, but from some internet searching and some analysis of the script on the invitation, I agree with the other two commenters. It’s likely a “v'” not a “b”.
