CBS Grammy Awards Tonight! ~ Sam Smith Tom Petty Mashup

Looking forward to the Grammy Awards tonight!

Here’s an interesting mashup that shows why Tom Petty is now co-credited (and receiving royalties) for writing nominee Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me.”

    1. There were some real highs, and some real low moments too. Ed Sheeran w/ John Mayer and Herbie Hancock; Sam Smith with MJ Blige; Hozier with Annie Lennox; Pharrell’s Happy with “hand’s up don’t shoot” motions; Beck and Chris Martin; and Miranda Lambert’s rockin “Little Red Wagon” were outstanding. The low points–Madonna, Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Kanye, to name only a few.

Try listening to the radio station the River–I hear tons of great new music on that station.

  1. Boy I was mad. Smith steels a song from Petty and he wins. Well Tom gets credits for co-credited (and receiving royalties. Still tom should have gotten it. Hard core Tom Petty fan. Oh Ya.

    1. There are several great songs on Sam Smith’s album, In the Lonely Hour, not just “Stay With Me.” I think these kinds of songwriting mistakes oftentimes happen honestly. Petty and Smith agreed out of court and it was an amicable settlement. Listen to “I’m Not the Only One,”–beautiful!
