I remember winter lobstering in E. Boothbay, as the boat would be setting lower we’d check the bilge which would be dry. It was the ice build up on the bow. We’d have to hack it off with a hatchet. Rubber gloves would leak so I stuck with cotton, warming my hands in the ocean or frying them on the stack. Oh the joyful memories of winter fishing. Now all nice in warm in Vermont after hanging off phone poles for too many years.
