Ned’s Groceria, Washington St

Ned’s Groceria, Washington St, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

For some reason I thought the name was Ned’s Groceteria and had named all my picture files and flickr titles as such. Upon further review of this picture it is Ned’s Groceria. I wonder if selling stuff out of a van makes you a Groceteria and selling out of a storefront makes you a Groceria. Any of you Ned’s regulars want to stop by there and find out for me?
I got a Cuban panini that was very tasty. It was pressed through and the center ingredients were warm (a pet peeve of Mark Ring is a cold centered panini). I’m happy to report Mark that the panini was properly prepared.
As is the case with any of the pictures posted on the blog if you click on the picture it will bring you to the flickr page where it resides. Along the top border of the picture there is an option for “all sizes” when selected gives you a nice full sized version of any of the pictures posted here with much greater detail. I prefer if you like a pic to check them out on the flickr page using the all sizes feature. Viewing them on this page you are reading does many of the photo’s disservice.
Here is a link to my Ned’s Groceria slideshow including other Ned’s pics in larger format.

Essex Cows

Essex Cows, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

I don’t know who owns this land in Essex, but good for them that they can afford to keep the open space for the cows and people passing by.

Is there a certain number of cows or plantings that one would need to keep on their property to qualify for farmland status on the tax rolls?

Lots of boats tied up on a flat ass calm day.

Don’t Do This To Yourself

Don’t Do This, originally uploaded by captjoe06.

It’s a good thing to dream.

However, unless you have unlimited time, patience and money try not to take on a project like this. With the cost of materials today I can pretty much assure you that you can find a used boat in much better condition for not a whole lot of money compared to what it will take to restore this kind of boat.

I hope this guy sees his project through and I’ll be taking pictures of a beautifully restored vessel.

Good luck pal.

Notice the boarded up windows and filled in deck on the second floor as it compares to the transformation being done for the movie set..

Pier 7 Transformation for Sandra Bullock Movie

Currently there are guys working at Pier 7 to transform Pier 7 into a movie set for the Sandra Bullock movie that is taping around town.

In this picture workers are painting the deck.

If you notice the windows have been boarded up and shingled with paint.

East Gloucester Marine Construction Update 4/18/08

First there was the concrete filled steel pilings which support the huge cement and rebar frame.

Then the pre-poured panels were set in place which locked into place on top of that frame. Now another layer or cement reinforced with rebar is being laid over all of that which will tie the whole thing together.

I swear you could support an aircraft carrier on this deck.

Great job.
