Fulfilling a Legacy – The Essex Shipbuilding Museum Video By Barry O’Brien

Barry Writes-

The Essex Shipbuilding Museum is located on the grounds of the A.D. Story Shipyard. In this small village of Essex, MA, in the basin of the Essex River, more than 4,000 wooden ships were built. The American fishing schooner was invented here. I created this video to help raise money to interpret, educate and preserve the proud New England history of Essex. I hoped to summarize the the story of the Essex shipwrights and mission of the museum.

Barry O’Brien Gertrude L. Thebaud Video

Barry O’Brien writes-

This is part of a unique museum exhibit at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum in Essex, MA. I produced this video using photographs from the Museum’s collection, video I shot of archived issues Gloucester Times Newspapers, kindly made available by the Sawyer Public Library, and one 16mm newsreel. My goal was to bring the history of the Thebaud alive for children and adults, as well using only the assets stored away in the Museum’s collection.

Sam Hartson’s Celebrate Gloucester Trailer Featuring Your Boy Joey

Joey,

You inspired me to make this trailer today, and I’m glad you did; no one can better expression the passion that citizens have for Gloucester like you can. It’s for the release party specifically which, as you know, is next thursday, 11/11. I hope your fans enjoy this, and I hope they come to the screening and/or get a copy of the DVD.
Celebrate Gloucester was important (and successful) in raising money for the charity to benefit the city, but furthermore the concert was an important event for the city as a community. It brought a lot of people together for a great cause and showcased some incredible homegrown talent and great food. The film takes it to another level, sort of immortalizing it for the history books as a milestone; a point in time where the city and it’s residents came together to grow as a society and a community for the better.

Thanks, see you on the 11th!
Sam Hartson

Author Sally Goldenbaum Talks Gloucester and New Mystery Book A Holiday Yarn

Sally talks about Gloucester and a whole ton of Gloucester references in her new mystery “A Holiday Yarn”

Sally will be reading and signing her new book “A Holiday Yarn,” this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Rockport Library.

You can check out Sally Goldenbaum’s website and blog here

The blog portion of her site can be accessed by clicking the tab labeled “Sally’s Porch”.  My guess is that 95% of the people that go to her site probably never knew she had a blog that was attached to her site because they didn’t know that the “Sally’s Porch” tab is what would land you there.  A more appropriate label for that tab would probably be “blog” or “Sally’s Blog”.

Sunny D and Rum Call Out To Restaurants

Once new GMG contributor Patrick Ryan turned me on to this video my life hasn’t been the same since.

The quest for Sunny D and rum was never quite fulfilled Saturday night.  We were shut out at Walgreens (no Sunny D) and Market Basket was closed up tighter than a frog’s ass when we swung by.

So here’s the deal-

The first local bar that offers to stock Sunny D and Rum for one night in an email to goodmorninggloucester@yahoo.com will get Mr Patrick Ryan,The Rabbit and I to come by and do a full on GMG feature on your joint.

We will come in with the cameras and video and take pics of your food for all of the 12-20,000 daily GMG readers to see.

It’s that simple.
