On a beautiful foggy Thursday morning I spoke to Patti about the new trash barrels at Stage Fort Park.

My new swimsuit arrived today from Coastal Dog Apparel in plenty of time for the New Year’s Polar Plunge. These thing are pretty snazzy and might be just the thing for a cold dip. Comfy and loose outer swimsuit with an inner swimsuit that is form fitting. Keeping those kibbles and bits all snug is key when diving into 42° F ice water.
To prepare for the chill the Rubber Duck went off to Stage Fort Park to check out the snowy owls.
While walking this morning at Stage Fort Park with Elynn Kroger, we encountered this beautiful snowy owl. A little later, I ran into Peggy Russell from Pop Gallery, who also had seen him, but hadn’t been able to get a shot of him. This is for you Peggy. Merry Christmas. What a special treat on Christmas morning.
Of course it never fails that I encounter something magical when I carry my chumpy little pocket camera. I wish I’d brought the nice one Paul Frontiero gave me, as I had originally intended. Lesson. Never second-guess your first impulse.

On Saturday we took Avery (2) and Cole (4) to Stage Fort Park and Half Moon Beach with Auntie Ericka. So much fun.
What we all need to do.
Stage Fort itself was used during the American Revolution, which is evident in the cannons that line the path to the top of he rocky cliffs.
Can you feel it? People trying to pack a whole summer into the last week before school starts, which seems to get earlier every year. It feels like there’s so much going on that every choice we make effectively says “No” to a dozen other things we’d like to do. Take today for instance. Live music starts at 11:30am at Stage Fort Park and continues into the night at restaurants, clubs, @ Shalin Liu, on schooners and in the streets. See the full live music schedule here.
Just in case that’s not enough for you, there’s also the Farmer’s Market at Stage Fort Park from 3-6:30 and today you can catch NAMA’s only Gloucester-based Seafood Throwdown of the year at 4:30 featuring a showdown between 2012 HarvestFest champs Gloucester’s Willow Rest and 2008 Genoa World Pesto champs Beverly’s Prides Osteria. Spectators get to taste the food so you really don’t want to miss this one!
