Early Morning Hurricane Sandy Pics From Gloucester MA State Fish Pier

You may wake up and think that this thing is no big deal.  Just be aware that the big time winds won’t be here til this afternoon.  70MPH SUSTAINED winds which won’t be here til later today are damaging.

Pictures taken 6:50AM-7:00AM

Be careful and take precautions.  Better to be safe than to be sorry.

Gloucester At Dawn Good Harbor Beach and Thacher Island 6:32AM 9/15/12

Taken with- you guessed it my NEX-5N which I paid over $250 more than what you can buy it for as of yesterday.

Here are some of the sets I’ve taken with mine click for photos

image

Here’s the link to buy it at the ridiculous discount that was offered yesterday. $498 with the 18-55 lens

A new version of the 5 series has been announced which includes wifi but won’t be out for two months and is listed at a price of $748, the NEX-5R.

I’ll take my camera at that discount and in fact I did, buy it for the Mrs for her birthday.  Shhhhhh. Don’t tell.

This is the new one which is available for pre-order-

The Camera I’ve Been Using This Past Year Just Got A Huge Discount On Amazon From $698 to $498. It’s What I Use To Take All Those Gloucester At Dawn Photos Like This One! Gloucester At Dawn Good Harbor Beach Life Guard Chair 6:34AM 9/15/12

My NEX-5N which you’ve witnessed this past year and what I attribute to a huge portion of the fun I’ve had taking photos.  it has a huge sensor in a compact form and I can’t recommend it enough. And for the price they slashed it down to it is an absolute NO BRAINER!

It was $698 and they cut $200 off on Amazon.  I’m telling you don’t even think, just buy it and you’ll be psyched you did.  I’m getting one for the Mrs. as soon as I finish typing this.  I haven’t seen this deal any where else so I don’t know how many are available at that price but if it’s still there grab one with the kit lens.  You’ll be happy you did.

Zip Zip Hooray to Gloucester!

TheFox 25 Zip Trip to Gloucester flowed beautifully and was so well-organized by the Zip Trip Team. The challenges of producing live television are many and, I imagine, ten times more demanding when broadcasting from a different Massachusetts town each week. All went perfectly; seemingly without a hitch. The newscasters were inundated with fans and gifts, the producers countless hurdles, and all the while the cameramen were trying to film in an open setting dodging everyone who was running in and out. Despite these many challenges, the newscasters and production team were gracious, considerate, professional, and patient. Thank you Sarah Unis and the Fox 25 Zip Team for visiting Gloucester!

#BOOM! Coastal Living magazine calls Gloucester a "Coastal Dream Town"

Joey,
More positive national media coverage for Gloucester: Coastal Living has a great article on Gloucester in next month’s issue. The article calls Gloucester a "Coastal Dream Town" and says Gloucester has a "rare combination of urban spirit and historic charm."
"An enthusiastic nightlife scene featuring live theater and local bands is bolstered by a restaurant renaissance," the article says about our city.

Great job by you and local Remax Realtor (and GoodMorningGloucester contributor) Kenny MacCarthy for talking with the reporter and providing colorful quotes in the story.
Matter Communications started talking with Coastal Living, one of the top lifestyle and travel magazines, about Gloucester two years ago so  it’s nice to see such a positive story finally come out! Matter works with the Cape Ann Chamber and local businesses to put the good word out about what a great place Gloucester is to live, work and visit.
Readers can see the Coastal Living story here: http://capeannchamber.com/Tourism/Coastal%20Living.pdf
Congrats, Gloucester!

Joey: Media Mogul!

Joey’s featured in the latest issue of North Shore Art*Throb

Media Mogul

By Lou Mandarini

Joey Ciaramitaro didn’t necessarily set out to revolutionize the media landscape on Cape Ann, but that’s the way things have turned out since he started his blog Good Morning Gloucester, nearly five years ago.

Subtitled My View Of Life on the Dock, the website is first and foremost a community blog, but describing Good Morning Gloucester so simply is kind of like describing Jackson Pollock as just a painter. Such a perdestrian description doesn’t do justice to the kind of sensory overload at work. To read the article in its entirety, click here, and go to page 26.

Congratulations Chief!

“At its essence, Good Morning Gloucester is a Technicolor love letter to the city where Ciaramitaro grew up.”

North Shore Art*Throb, based out of Salem, is a free publication that incubates a regional movement of sustainable communities invested in the arts, a local economy, and cultural engagement. NS Art*Throb covers Boston’s North Shore including Gloucester, Salem, Beverly, Lynn, and Marblehead.

WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle Gloucester Episode

As many are aware, tonight at 7:30, WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle is airing an episode featuring Gloucester. This is in and of itself is fantastic; they also borrowed a bit my footage from my Greasy Pole Sunday film that I created for Good Morning Gloucester.

http://vimeo.com/45105201

Special thanks are owed Joey for making Good Morning Gloucester the ‘go to place’ for people like Maggie Harper, the producer of Chronicle, to discover more about what makes the heart of our community beat. During the entire week of Fiesta, then followed by Independence Day events, GMG covered all, posting countless feature stories, schedule of events, photos, and videos.

Thank you Joey C for all you do for our fair city!

As Gloucester’s Powerhouse of Positivity would say ~ YEAH BABY! Chronicle Tonight! Boom! We Got That!
