There is a cut out in the middle of the deck of this mooring setting rig in which heavy moorings are lowered and lifted out to be serviced. Moorings are heavy objects which lay on the bottom of the ocean which boats attach a chain and line to secure their boat in the open water.

Here is a view from the stern of the Angela Rose looking at it’s net wheel. What you see coiled around the net reel in this picture is the wire that will be attached to a net when it is fully wound on.
Then when the skipper sets out the net it unwinds off of this net reel into the ocean. So if you hear a skipper on the vhf radio saying he just “set out”, it doesn’t mean he just left the dock. It means he just set out the net.
