Gloucester At Dawn- Beacon Marine

This morning I expected it to be freezing cold but it was beautiful.  I decided to take some pics down at Beacon Marine before work.  The temps are supposed to plummet this afternoon so bundle up!

Gloucester Landing Proposal

This is what we could have had instead of the  weed infested I4C2 lot in between the Gloucester House and The Building Center. Public access, public parking, and not to mention probably millions in tax revenue and jobs.

Sean Secures The Bait Before Heading Out

The boys didn’t seem to happy to be going out this morning.  With the cold water temperatures the catches fall off dramatically.  Tough to get motivated when you know you’re not going to make a whole lot of dough.

Pictures From Matteo Russo’s Patriot

Usually when I photograph a boat I only post about a third of the pictures that I take.  I weed through and cull out the best shots.  There were a bunch from the Patriot that were left in the folder and never got posted so there will be a few more photos from different angles in the pilot house and engine room.

Melissa K Covered In Snow 01/18/09

Moments after I took this picture the Kippen boys shoveled off the deck and headed out to go lobstering.

They got to about the Paint Factory when the engine alarm sounded.  Realizing that the temperature of the engine had spiked dramatically they did the right thing and shut it down immediatly.  Many times in the bitter cold cooling lines in engines freeze up and it can cause an engine to overheat.  You can get a blown head gasket and many other problems.  Shutting it down right away was the right course of action to prevent damage to the engine.

Kind of ironic that extreme cold creates a problem with overheating but that’s what happens when the coolant doesn’t get to circulate.

It’s hard to believe that this boat was capsized two days ago.  You wouldn’t know it by looking at it here.  This picture was taken at 4:50AM today

Matteo Russo’s Patriot Wheelhouse

Clean as the engine room, here you see lots of electronics and polished wheel.

There aren’t too many engines that you would place a sandwich down on top of and then pick it back up to eat, but Matteo maintained his boat meticulously.
