See this band if you love jazz and beyond!

Last weekend Marty Rowen, Dave Mattacks, and Dave Brown put on an extraordinary show for an appreciative crowd at the Dog Bar. Singer Chelsea Berry added another dimension when she joined the group later in the night. Owner Andy Mulholland is hoping that this band will be  a Dog Bar regular. Be sure to catch this group in the near future. You’ll be glad you did.

Back by globular demand! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Lisa Marie! That’s right, folx, no tickee, no laundree, so get your butt down here Thursday and shake your booties to the booty bleat.
I don’t have to tell you about her smood singin’, her brash blaring, her total control of da megaphonium of de blooze. Plays a mean tambourine, too, or three. It’s gwine be a party to end all parties!
Backing her up  will be long-time missing saxaphonier and general cooldude, Mr. Rick Razdan. We haven’t had the pleasure in a long time as he has been recovering from botched weenis cosmetic surgery. However, we now got the green light! Greg T. will be there, too as well as myself.
So,  put down that knitting and grab your walker and c’mon down…if you still got the strength…

From Dave Sag – Thursday Night Blues Party @ the Rhumb Line

This Thursday at the Rumline we  have Mr’ Steve Sadler, he of the searing guitar and monotone joke delivery. Steve’s an old pal of ours from the old days and we’re always glad to see him. You may remember the Barking Sharks, Steve’s last band around these parts before  he took off to see the world. And now he’s back!
Backing him up will be Mr. Greg Dann, drumnist for Secret Cervix and all around nice guy, and, of course, Greg T. and myself. An enjoyable nite!

And don’t forget: all you under-employed folks with time to spare, c’mon  down to the Rose Baker Senior Center next Monday for some swingin’ jazz and dixieland courtesy of the ol’ Salty Jazz Band. I’ll be there. Blast off is at 1 Pm

From Dave Sag-

And Friday:  The Geezers will be limping back into Elliot’s at the Blackburn for yet another grueling experiment in physics.Dave Brown, Dave Mattacks, Greg Tower and myself will be attempting cold fusion of the blues. With any luck, by the end of the night there will be nothing left on stage but a steaming heap. Come find out!

And Sunday, I’ll be up at Glenn’s Cool Bar and Restaurant in Nbpt. From 6 to 9 p.m. playing with this groovy band consisting of my buddies Justin Quinn, on vocals and harp, and his entire aggravation including Jon Ross on gooeytar, Per Hanson, the scariest drummer I’ve ever played with, and Curtis “Lemay” Haines, the Mayor of Nbpt. and a fine stride pianist. Make reservations now! The food is great and the band ain’t too shabby!
Don’t be a cube, Rube; go ape! Live music is best!

Last night’s CD Release Party with Chelsea!

Chelsea9:00pm – Dog Bar was packed. Chelsea Berry was setting up for a night of music promoting her new CD.  With a keen sense of humor and bluntness, the singer-songwriter kept the audience entertained for hours. She sang her own songs as well as covers that were meaningful to her. More than once, the only sound in the room was Chelsea’s  incredible music. Her cover of Susan Werner’s “May I Suggest” brought tears to many listeners’ eyes. She invited Pete Lindberg, Bradley Royds and a cast of others to round out the night. What a show!

Go listen for yourself at the Rhumb Line around 7:30 Sunday night where she’ll be playing with friend and cohort Pete Lindberg. You’ll be glad you did.

You can read more about Chelsea in Mike Lindberg’s (Pete’s dad) post here on GMG.

THURSDAY MAY 28th

From Dave Sag on the Rhumb Line’s Thursday Night Blues Party

This Thursday sees the triumphant return of two musical monsters: Keyboard millipede and vogalist xtremondo Mr. Joe Bargar and three-fisted drummber Mr. Joey Scrima. We have’nt seen Joey in awhile, due to a horrible inkjet printer accident and we’re happy to have a copy of him to flail the nite away. Joe, of course has been here more recently. He’s a busy guy and I’m glad to have him back once again. Look out for his gut-wrenching version of the classic “Drown in my own tears” : I’m bringin’ my hanky, and an EMT will be on call for those of you with heart problems. As  for the rest of us, Greg T. and I will be on duty, just tryin’ to keep up.
