Local artists featured in annual outdoor sculpture exhibitions

Fall art walks

September, Newburyport, MA: For the third year, Sinikka Nogelo’s art is featured in the Maudslay State Park annual outdoor sculpture exhibition . Reception and walk through with the artists tomorrow, 2-5pm.

Thru Oct 7, Harvard, MA: Liz Fletcher’s sculpture was selected for the 2018 annual Around the Pond and Through the Woods Outdoor Sculpture at Old Frog Pond Farm, Harvard, Massachusetts. The show closes October 7th. If you time it right you can also attend the annual Plein Air Poetry walk September 16, 2-4pm.  I’d love to see a Cape Ann Plein Air Sculpture and Poetry walk, perhaps through Dogtown, TS Eliot, beach, and Cape Ann Museum properties.

Thru Nov 4, Pingree School, S. Hamilton, MA: Look for works by Liz Fletcher, Michael Updike and Bart Stuyf in the ninth annual Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition at Pingree which opened September 1 and continues through November 4, 2018.

You have just a few hours left to take advantage of the generous offer from the team at Brothers’ Brew, a business that is incredibly supportive of downtown and community initiatives that help make Rockport and Cape Ann such an incredible place to live.

Art Exchange Coming Up in Rockport!

People of Cape Ann: are you ready for some new art? Bring a piece of your own artwork, or a piece from your collection of someone else’s original artwork, to Art Now Rockport’s first Art Exchange, scheduled for August 18th. This event will no doubt be a lot of fun, with a bit of food & music as well as art. Preregistration, which isn’t required but which might be a good idea, opens on July 30th. It’s $5 to participate but free to come and watch the art exchange take place, which should be lively. The event is being organized by Art Now Rockport. Third Thursdays

I’m sure it’s been proposed, but maybe you could shed some light as to why it’s not happening.

In other communities they have “Third Thursday Events” where they close their downtown streets on a certain night of each month and the shop owners stay open and local artisans set up kiosks in the middle of the streets and displays of their art for sale.

They have jazz bands or other kinds of bands and the shop owners have wine and cheese and hors’ douvres.

Why dont we have that here?

We have an incredible arts community.

Can we get to work on it?

It works in Vegas and it works in Naples.  I bet it would be fantastic here from Summer through fall.
