icon-bull_bear

A crazed killer is on the loose!

And it’s up to you to stop him! The killer has created a scavenger hunt that, when completed, reveals his name, the weapon he used, and where he hid the body in the museum. He sent the hunt to the police and dared them to try to solve it. The police need your help. You’ll get a list of suspects, weapons, and hiding places that are all items in the museum.

By following the trail of clues and answering tricky questions, you’ll narrow the list of suspects, weapons, and places and provide the police with the evidence they need to catch and convict the killer. Can you figure out whodunnit?

No knowledge of the museum or art is necessary, but good reading skills are helpful. Contact us to learn more and find more fun!

Egg-cellent Easter Adventure at Appleton Farms

images

Say goodbye to the cold and celebrate the arrival of warmer weather here on the Farm! While we often associate eggs with the Easter Bunny, in many cultures eggs symbolize new life and are tied with the coming of spring. At this event, we celebrate spring, new life on the farm, and the bounty of fresh eggs produced by our hens.

Go on the “Egg-cellent” Quest around the farm and learn about the journey from egg to chicken, collecting Easter eggs at each station to complete the Quest! Enjoy homemade refreshments in our Carriage Barn, visit with the calves, and play games in the stone paddock!

Stop by anytime between 10am -12pm to start your Quest. Please bring a basket of your own to collect the Quest eggs. Note: It is only necessary to register for one ticket per family.

Then get outside and explore our very own sugar shack! Learn how we tap our trees every spring, see the evaporator in action, and even taste some of our syrup! We will end back inside with some delicious snacks, including Appleton Farms cheese and a maple treat, while we read a sugaring story!

Afternoon Session: 1:30-3PM

Just Announced – Sled Dog Races at Appleton!

The Second Annual Myopia Sled Dog Races was just announced and is changing venues to Appleton Farms. I went to this event last year and it was a big hit with the kids.  The first race of the day is a crazy version of cross country skiing, where folks get pulled by their dogs and insanity ensues. Then the youngsters take the helm and you will be astonished how fast they go. I believe this event will get bigger and better each year, as long as they are lucky with the snow.  Appleton is going to be  a great venue for this and will likely offer better spectator viewing  along the course.

Check out their website and their Facebook page

I hope you are enjoying your extended summer. Just a friendly reminder, don’t forget to change the oil in your snow blower. Winter is right around the corner! Weather folks are predicting wild swings in weather this winter.

The Mrs’ Sunflower Centerpiece

The Mrs picked all these flowers at Appelton Farms in which we have a farm share.

Appleton Farms Painting

The Mrs picked fell in love with this painting of Appleton Farms.  As many of you regular readers know we have a share  at the Farm and she goes every week with The Bean and Snoop Mad.  This painting had been hanging in the “share room”  and from what she tells me she had admired it every time she saw it.

About five years back while on vacation in Naples, we saw a painting that struck both of us.  We didn’t buy it and have gone into the gallery every year since in search of it but its not there.

So when she told me about this particular painting and how much she loved it I told her I’d get it for her for her Christmas present.

So now you know what’s hanging over the mantle.

Family At Appleton Farms

Snoop Maddie Mad is extremely independent and stubborn.  Case in point this weekend at Appleton Farms.  The Mrs tells me that once she picked out her own pumpkin she wouldn’t let anyone else touch it or carry it.  She was determined to carry it herself.  All day.

The Mrs tells me she must have dropped it a hundred times, but every time someone else tried to help her she threw a fit because she wanted to carry it herself.  And so it went.  Ten steps and a dropped pumpkin.  Pick it up and another ten steps or so.  Drop.  Pick it up.  Repeat.

She’s a maniac.

The Mrs Salad

The Mrs made this salad using most everything she gets from our share at Appleton Farms.
