On the way back from Clearwater beach I had the Rabbit stop at Clearwater Bait and Tackle to get some pictures of the Live Blue Crabs in the tanks for the blog.

The Gloucester Fisherman Triathlon is scheduled for August 8th, 2010 and there is still space available for competitors to sign up-

The 2nd Annual Gloucester Fisherman Sprint Triathlon takes place on August 8, 2010 at 7:30 am. The race begins with a 1/3 mile swim at Pavillion Beach followed by a short run up to the Transition Area. Racers will then bike 15.5 miles on a gorgeous rolling and scenic bike course. Following the bike course is a fast and spectator friendly run course. A 5k in the heart of downtown Gloucester with the Finish Line right on Main Street in front of hundreds of screaming fans.
In addition to our age group awards, the Gloucester Fisherman Triathlon will be offer a $4,999.00 Prize Purse to the Top 5 Male and Female in the Elite/Pro Division.
The Gloucester Fisherman’s Triathlon is brought to you by the Gloucester Fishermen Athletic Association.

We made the girl’s names out of shells. I figure this will make a nice picture blown up for them. Maybe we will put them in their bathroom.
Here’s the Bean’s-
It was a quiet beach day realtively speaking-
As most of you know whenever I go on vacation I try to swing by whatever seafood establishments are around and talk to the people there to get a feeling of what is happening in their corner of the world.
Kirk Seafood is a retail store located across the street from Cambier Park. The park we bring the girls in the heart of olde Naples, Florida. I popped in and commented about the “Big-Ass Shrimp” sign saying “Big-Ass Shrimp! I Love That!” The woman behind the counter replied “well I loved writing it!”
Come to find out she was the owner and a Massachusetts native. She had married a fisherman from Marco Island over 20 years ago and moved down to be with him.
We got to talking about fishing and the regulations which have pretty much decimated the commercial fishing industry down there. I thought we had it bad where we are but it seems the commercial fishing lobby down south was no match for the regulators down there. So she turned to retail and has a beautiful store. Spottless and the fish was the freshest I’ve seen down here. We talked for a good bit-until my spidey senses told me the Mrs probably had had enough and she was ready to hit the park.

Lest anyone think the weather only sucks here in Ma, we’re not alone. It was pretty crummy if you like the warm weather in Florida as well. We only got one day in the pool as it was eitrher raining or cool there as well.
We still had a fantastic time spending a lot of it at the great parks Naples has to offer but I’m really looking forward to having my feet in the sand a bit more.
One guy on the Naples Pier said that he hadn’t remembered in 60 years of living in Naples a winter as cold as this past one and that from Christmas til the day we went in the pool there wasn’t a single day he would have considered a beach day.
The girls were great though and although the weather wasn’t all that I ‘d still consider the trip a success.

Heading home today.
Although the weather we’ve had has been the worst I’ve experienced in almost 20 years of coming to Naples it was still a successful trip. The girls have been spectacular and we found plenty of other fun things to do. The parks being the main attractions for the girls.
