The North Shore Arts Association is delighted to announce a solo exhibition by Dennis Poirier, on display in our Hallway Gallery from June 24 – July 6, 2023. A Gloucester native, Dennis learned to paint with John C. Terelak, Ted Goerschner, and Sal Grasso at the Gloucester Academy of Fine Arts in 1976, and later with Don Stone when he moved up to York County, Maine in 1982. He also studied in New York City at the Art Students League of New York with the great painter David A. Leffel and lived there in 1978 and 1979.  

The colors, sights, and sounds of Gloucester’s busy port and fishing fleet inspire Dennis’ work in this solo show. Please, join us for the opening reception on Saturday, June 24, from 1-3 PM to meet the artist and celebrate a career of incredible artwork. Admission is free and all are welcome!

The North Shore Arts Association invites you to come and experience Scenes of New England; a solo show by William Gotha. His exhibition of thirty-five original oil paintings, including series of three paintings of the Gloucester Coast, is on display June 24 – July 6, 2023. Bill Gotha has been painting all his life, but began painting professionally in 2014. He specializes in New England landscapes and seascapes en plein air and in his studio in Andover, MA. His favorite medium is oil paint. Bill is a former naval officer, was an art director for several publishers in the Boston area (including Sail Magazine) and managed an international marketing company for twenty years before launching his painting career. Shenanigans in Magnolia

Here’s some of the activity we observed in our backyard here in Magnolia. It’s a neverending tale of shenanigans and nature at work. I was especially interested in the nuzzling/licking behavior of the deer. I had not observed this before and found it fascinating although they seemed to accuse me of being a bit of a Peeping Tom.

In just two years, the new Cape Ann Y celebrates more than 11,000 members, nearly $1 million in financial assistance provided so everyone has access to the Y, and more than 400 children learning the life saving skill of swimming through our swim lesson program.
