As frightful as snow may be, especially before the Thanksgiving travels, we were spared yesterday from adding snow to the storm troubles. It was just enough, though, to make some snow scenes appear.
Safe travels to all and enjoy Thanksgiving

I know in our family it would be a holiday without Olive Cunsati on the table. I made it this morning after visiting Joe Virgilio at his family run Italian Bakery here in Gloucester on Main Street….There is still plenty of time to get downtown to Virgilio’s Bakery and pick up Sicilian Green Colossal Olives from Joe and make a batch for your holiday table tomorrow! Tell him Sista sent you in, he and his staff will take good care of you!

My recipe and Cooking video tutorial QR Code for Marinated Vegetable Salad With Olives “Alivi Cunsati” is on page 200 in my newly released cookbook Gifts of Gold In A Sicilian Kitchen With Sista Felicia, Harvest” Click Link below to order on line
While shopping at Virgilio’s Bakery this morning Joe shared a sample of their Semolina Olive Bread…It was delicious! I’m planning to make a pork loin dinner this evening for my family and can’t wait to incorporate it into the meal in some way …I’ll keep you all posted I have an idea for a stuffing swirling around in my head right now, but must stick to preparing my feast for tomorrow first!

Seacoast Holiday Bazaar
held last Saturday was festive and fun!
Thank you to everyone who attended and
supported this wonderful event!
Plenty To Be Thankful For is my favorite video from last year. What are you thankful for on the eve of this most beloved and uniquely American holiday?
Everyday I count my blessings for my beautiful and thoughtful children (now young adults) and today I am especially grateful for my very hard-working and sweet son Alex. The last batch of several hundred bulbs needed to go in the ground. We did speed planting along the HarborWalk and, in less than 45 minutes–done! Thanks so much Alex for your much appreciated help! His new truck, that he saved for with his hard earned money, came in handy, too!
I am so thankful too, for my wonderful GMG family of friends!
Please forgive the old photo–it only annoys my son when I try to take a snapshot!
Rocky Neck is having their Holiday Art & Fine Crafts Festival. Please see the following for the dates and some of the items.
Spotlight on Anna Vojtech
Anna grew up in Prague, Czechoslovakia, what is now the Czech Republic. She studied art and animation film in Prague, Antwerp (Belgium) and Hamburg (Germany), where she met her German-American husband, Roland Cornelis Baumgaertel.
In 1971 Anna and Roland moved to Montreal where she worked as a freelance artist for the National Filmboard of Canada and for various film companies. During that time Anna started to illustrate children books and work with Canadian publishers. Her first book published in the US was “The Star Husband”, a Native American legend, published by Doubleday in 1979. Since then Anna has been working and publishing with major publishers like North South, Putnam, Dial, Penquin, Abrams, and many others. Her botanical paintings, another of Anna’s passions, have been published as”Wild Flowers for All Seasons”, a beautiful coffee table book.
In 1983 Anna, Roland and their two sons, Mathis and Lukas, moved to the North Shore. They lived in Marblehead for a time, but for the last 14 years they have been happy residents of Gloucester along with their grandchildren, Cyrus and Natasha. In 2001 Anna and Roland purchased a building in East Gloucester and turned it into an artist haven with 7 studios, called “Cripple Cove Studios”. This is where Anna continues doing what she has done all her adult life – illustrating, painting and experimenting with various media. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
In March 2013 Anna exhibited her paintings along with her husband’s sculptures at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck. Anna will be participating in the Rocky Neck Arts and Crafts Show where she will be selling some of the books she has illustrated. Her most recent book are “Look What I can Do!” written by Nancy Viau and The Friendly Beasts”, an old English Christmas Carol, which includes a CD. All of the books will be autographed and at special times Anna will be signing them especially for your special little ones.
Look for Anna and her wonderful books at The Cultural Center at Rocky Neck, 6 Wonson Street, East Gloucester during the Rocky Neck Holiday Art & Fine Crafts Festival Saturdays and Sundays, Noon-4 PM November 30 – December 29 http://www.rockyneckartcolony.org/winter.php

The Cape Ann Symphony’s Holiday Pops Concert is an exciting celebration of holiday music favorites featuring a World Premiere by Robert J. Bradshaw commissioned by the Cape Ann Symphony, The Cape Ann Symphony Singers under the direction of Rockport’s Wendy Betts and an updated sing along to kick off the holiday season on Saturday, November 30 at 8 pm & Sunday, December 1 at 2 pm. The Holiday Pops Concert features the world premiere of “Yankee Swap!: White Elephant Gift Exchange” from Suite No. 4 “Cape Ann” for orchestra by Robert J. Bradshaw, a Gloucester based composer and CAS member. “Yankee Swap!” is a super fun musical take the New England holiday tradition. Pick your number, wait your turn, unwrap or steal someone else’s present and then get ready for some serious symphonic bargaining! According to composer Bradshaw, “I am very grateful to Maestro Yoichi Udagawa and the Cape Ann Symphony for commissioning this work. It provides me with the opportunity to write for an orchestra and community I care deeply about and the commission itself offered me the chance to explore aspects of my musical experience not often heard on the concert stage (including popular musical influences such as dub step, funk, rock and jazz).” Maestro Undagawa is eager to premiere the new work,” Rob Bradshaw has written a terrific piece that captures the holidays here in New England. It shifts quickly from one idea and feeling to another, but at the same time paints a complete picture of the joy and complexity of feeling that accompanies the season. I know the audience is going to love this piece!”

The Cape Ann Symphony concerts are held at the Manchester-Essex High School auditorium on 36 Lincoln Street in Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA. Manchester-Essex High School Auditorium is handicapped accessible. Ticket prices are $35 for adults, $30 for senior citizens, $20 for Young Adults and Free for children age 18 and under. For tickets and information, call 978-281-0543 or visit www.capeannsymphony.org.
