On Rocky Neck in Gloucester sits the Gloucester Marine Railways, in operation since 1859. Large vessels can be hauled out of the water for repair, painting, or tied up to the piers. Even a casual stroll through the "Railways" yields interesting photos. Schooner Adventure is also berthed there.

Today mostly cloudy with periods or rain mixed with snow and sleet highs in the 30’s to lower 40’s … NE winds 25-35 mph with gusts over 45-50mph..
Monday Night rain / snow / sleet coming to a end lows in the upper 20’s to 30’s .. NE winds 20-30mph gusts over 45mph!!

I had the opportunity today to do a Live Stream From the Blue Shutters Inn on Nautilus Rd right on GHB… Also was welcomed inside the Shutter Inn and sat down with Ed Comer one of the Inn’s Owners … We talked about what else , the Weather of course 🙂 Ed had a lot of great stories to share with me and a very interesting guy .. I enjoyed my talk and time with Ed , and look forward to many more with the Blue Shutters Inn … Thanks Again Ed For Having me , u made me feel at home there.. 🙂 so I took some pics of the inside and I’d like to share them with u …. FUNDRAISER FOR THE CAPE ANN ANIMAL AID AT DOG BAR

Dog Bar is hosting a fundraiser for the Cape Ann Animal Aid as part of the Restaurants to the Rescue Fundraising Series on Sunday, April 6th. 10% of all sales from 5pm and Close will be donated to the Cape Ann Animal Aid. Cape Ann Milkweed Project Update and HarborWalk Gardens Cleanup Update

Thank you so much everyone for your enthusiasm to plant more milkweed! What a terrifically caring bunch of FOBs we have here on GMG, and a what a terrific response to come home to! I apologize for my delayed response. I was in NYC with family celebrating our son’s 21st birthday. In the next few days, we’ll post the official order form. The projected pick up date will be the third Saturday or Sunday morning in May, the 17th or 18th, at Captain Joe and Sons. More details to follow!

HarborWalk Update: The HarborWalk Butterfly Gardens Cleanup is postponed until Sunday, April 6th at 10:00. We’ll meet in the parking lot in front of the Gloucester House. Sharpen your pruners and come on down and learn about some of the native beauties planted at the gardens! Thank you to everyone who is planning to come. You don’t need to be a gardener to lend a hand and I will have extra pruners and rakes available.

Not much flooding occurred at midday high tide , took a quick video cast to share with u . More concerned with tonight’s tide and Monday’s with cutoff LP south of us spinning in and generating a NE fetch off the ocean .. Rain should let up now with a return tonight and Monday , with colder air being drawn down from the north can’t rule out some snow shower activity getting involved as LP slowly moves off to the east ….
Also NE winds will begin to pick up late today and strengthen through Monday !

3rd ANNUAL FAST CHICKS 5K IS SATURDAY, MAY 3RD

HAMILTON-WENHAM, MA, March 18, 2014 – On Saturday, May 3rd, 2014, the Hamilton-Wenham Mother’s Club (HWMC) will host the 3rd Annual Fast Chicks 5K. The Fast Chicks 5k is a women’s-only race/walk designed to celebrate active women everywhere.  

New this year:  Girls 13 and under can register for only $15.  Plus the race will be chip-timed for the first time using the MyLaps Bib Tag System.

For this 3rd annual race all monies raised will support Wellspring House, a local non-profit dedicated to empowering individuals and families to live more secure lives through basic needs assistance, education and job training.

“The Fast Chicks 5K is more than just a road race,” says Jessica Minnaar, chair of the race. “It’s a call to action to celebrate the active roles women take as community leaders. To contribute to women’s interest charities and to empower each other, our mothers, our friends, and our daughters to lead, not follow. And it’s also one heck of a way to have fun!”

Although the Fast Chicks 5k is a women’s only run, race organizers auction off a bib number to one wicked lucky “rooster” (male) who will get to join the field and race along side the field of women. To join the fun and submit your bid, visit our facebook page.

Mood Music

So, it isn’t so much that I’ve never been a fan of John Legend until now, it’s just that I hadn’t really given him much thought.  I’m not sure I could have named one of his songs and whenever I heard his name mentioned as a tremendous artist, I felt kind of indifferent.   I kind of kept on meaning to remember to look into what all the buzz was about, but then never did.

That having been said, DEAR LORD, if his song “All of Me” doesn’t do it for you then you’re one tough cookie. Seriously, a six-pack of grapefruit beer and this song and I’m a happy girl.  While I realize he is singing to his super model wife, the warm fuzzies are all mine.  In my humble opinion, there is nothing quite like some excellent lyrics.  I’m a huge fan of words.  So, put some great words into a good song and I’m hooked.

All kidding aside, if this song doesn’t set the mood for a fantastic evening, you’re going to have to tell me what does!  Well, maybe don’t go far as telling me what it takes to set your mood.  That’s just weird.  BUT, any other great songs out there with amazing lyrics….feel free to share.

Disclaimer:    I should note, that as I write this, my husband is asleep on the couch and my younger son is in bed next to me because, “he’s sad that E.T. went home and Elliot will never see him again.”

So, clearly I am no expert on mood music….
