Happy Birthday to our friend Fred. Took this picture on Halloween while trick or treating on Main Street. Fred borrowed my wig.

July 2014–Shuttle Faces
As a season ticket holder for the Harbor Shuttle, I use the shuttle to go to Rocky Neck and or just ride on a hot day. It also gives me an opportunity to meet people visiting Gloucester, and even local folks. I met my neighbors for the first time, even met the daughter of the landlady that we rented from when we came to the USA, on the shuttle. Below are only some of the many people I have met.

2014 Rhumbline Striper Tourney pics and results From Matt Ayer
Hey Joey,
The 2014 Rhumbline Striper Tournament was completed yesterday and attached are some photos of the winners and Fred handing out prizes. It was a slow day of fishing with many of the “heavy hitters” being shutout and not even weighing in a fish, but everyone always has a blast at the Rhumbline and the food and festivities weren’t suppressed at all by a little rain. Of course Fred (as always) had a great bunch of raffle prizes and kept the crowd entertained.
Here are your winners:
1st Place – Herb White – 30.66 pounds
2nd Place – Roger Brisson – 22.90 pounds
3rd Place – Domenic SanFilippo – 14.72 pounds
Hope everyone comes out again next year!
Thanks,
Matt
Thank You So Much to Our Friends, New and Old, of the HarborWalk!
Thank you Beth, Lynn, Frieda, Catherine, Mary Jo, Lise, Susan, Deborah, and Roger for a super meeting and weeding this morning. Thank you to all our newest “Friends of the HarborWalk” members who, although could not make it this morning, have expressed interest in helping.
If you would like to join the Friends of the HarborWalk, please email me at kimsmithdesigns@hotmail.com. In September I am giving a close-up photo workshop, in the garden, to all our Friends of the HarborWalk members. Date to be determined.
You do not need to be an expert gardener to join. Membership is open to all, and we’ll give you on-the-job training, no worries!
Note to Lucinda: I could not retrieve your email address from the comments. Please send me an email and I will add you to the mailing list. Thank you.
Look who joined us while weeding and meeting this morning at the gardens, an American Lady Butterfly (Vanessa virginiensis), and she was nectaring from the ginromously tall New York Ironweed (Veronia noveboracensis), a true North American native beauty and fabulous source of nectar for butterflies and bees.
Beautiful Sunset Over Gloucester Harbor Saturday Night!

Concert by the Sea at Beauport with Henry Allen
Concert by the Sea at Beauport , at the Sleeper-McCann House, in the garden overlooking Gloucester Harbor. Listened to great music by Henry Allen and the New Swingers, watching the sunset and schooners passing by, what a great setting.
Innuit Manuka Communicates with Moolongz in Alaska
Of course Innuits tend to be more highly evolved humans because they live simpler lives, closer to nature and aren’t caught up in all the distractions like many other humans, so it not surprising that they can see and communicate with Moolongz. Can you?

Celebrate Gloucester Update: John Sebastian Concert Rescheduled
Due to a scheduling conflict, we have moved the Celebrate Gloucester Benefit Concert featuring John Sebastian to Saturday, September 13 at the UU Meetinghouse. Get tickets here.
This is one more example of how things often work out despite my frustration when I found out about the conflict. The UU Meetinghouse a fitting venue given that this concert helps raise money for its restoration and the acoustics are excellent. But with no air conditioning, it wouldn’t have worked for an August concert. However, it’s perfect for September when the average high is 72 and low is 55 (it might be a little chilly at 8pm on the water that time of year) and the cushioned pews are quite comfortable.
This concert is a perfect opportunity to experience the music that helped define a generation up close and personal. Here’s a video of John Sebastian at Woodstock (45 years ago this August):
It’s Sunday…Time To Make The Sugu!
Sista Felicia’s Favorite Kitchen Gadget of the Week
Last night we ended an awesome beach day with S’mores. Our Twins BJ & Amanda have been make S’mores year round using one of their very own favorite Kitchen Gadgets, The Casa Moda “S’mores” Maker made by Lifetime Brands. Several people have inboxed messages inquiring about this gadget, and to be honest we have had it for so many years that I don’t remember where we purchased it, or how much we paid for it but what we can tell you is that is AWESOME! It’s fun, easily transports, can be used in or outdoors with little mess and fuss. Some Amazon.com reviews were not in favor of this handy gadget, but we love ours and have used it successfully countless times for several years. I was a little shocked by the price, on Amazon, and highly doubt I paid that price years ago. I would encourage looking further online for a better price, because It’s definitely a Kitchen Gadget must have for all ages!

We Released The Rare Yellow Lobster We Had At The Dock This Morning After It Had Released Its Eggs While In Our Tank.
About a month ago we released the blue one and the quadruple clawed one for the very same reason. A good lesson for the kids to learn about sustainability in the lobster industry. Hated to see that rare lobster leave the dock but at least my girls got to witness it.
