Fitz Henry Lane was a Cape Ann artist, printmaker and world-renowned American marine painter. With his subtle use of gleaming light, Lane is generally regarded as one of the finest 19th century practitioners of the style known as luminism. The Cape Ann Museum’s unparalleled collection of works by Fitz Henry Lane – which includes paintings, drawings and lithographs – is on permanent display in the gorgeously renovated Lane Gallery, a space fully devoted to Lane’s life and work.

Search and Recovery Last Night with the Help of Rockport Harbormasters

We should be proud of our Rockport Harbormasters who helped respond to this tragic situation last night.  I will update with more information as it becomes available.

    From wcvb.com

The body of a woman who fell off a cruise ship off Cape Ann Friday night has been recovered, according to the United States Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard said it received word of a woman falling overboard from the cruise ship Seabourn Quest about 10 miles off the coast around 7 p.m.

Several search and rescue teams responded and searched the area.

Around 8:30 p.m., the Rockport Harbormaster, with emergency medical service personnel on board, recovered the woman’s body.

Live Cook: Large Shrimp Wrapped In #Bacon On The @STOKGrills Charcoal Drum #GetStoked

    Joey Ciaramitaro's avatarThe Homie Cast

Follow along this evening at http://www.thehomiecast.com for live updates on this cook!

First up I’m going to split up a pound of bacon into thirds and will set up the STOK Drum for offset smoking around 225 degrees for about an hour. I started my coals and pushed them to one side of the grill and tossed a hunk of apple wood on for smoke. The bacon is placed on the opposite side of the grate from the charcoal. The idea is to partially cook the bacon because the shrimp will cook quickly and we want the bacon to finish around the same time once they are wrapped so the shrimp don’t dry out and get rubbery.

    image
While the bacon is smoking I put the wooden skewers we’ll be using in water so they don’t burn up once they’re on the grill. You’ll want to soak them for at least…

    SPRING CLEANING TIME

OK, so it’s not spring, but it is time for a good cleaning.

In an effort to simplify my photographic life, I have decided to reduce the size of my photography kit.

I am offering for sale three great cameras that I have used over the past several years. You have seen their images and videos many times here on GMG. They are all in excellent shape and in full operating order.

    PANASONIC GX 7 –  $525.00

This is a mirrorless, micro four thirds system 16MP digital camera. It features full HD video recording, tilting EVF and touchscreen, in-camera stabilization, built-in flash, wireless connectivity and tough magnesium body. It is compact and light and is perfect for travel and street photography.

The 20 mm f1.7 lens is outstanding. It allows for wonderful low light shooting and moody blurred background images. This is a micro four thirds lens, so double the focal length (20mm)to determine the full frame 35 mm equivalent (40mm).

    P1020658

Comes complete in original box, with battery charger, extra battery, cables and owner’s manual. There is a tiny ding that is barely noticeable.
