Saltwater Massage Studio
65 Pleasant. St., Gloucester MA

It was overcast and chilly, so the parade wasn’t quite what it has been in the past during summer balls, but in spite of the weather, people turned out with some great costumes. The Studio looked amazing, the Ball Committee did an incredible job of decorating, food was plentiful and delicious and fun was had by all.

Tons of fun!!
Rockport to Gloucester and back again, speeding along for a shore close-up at the very end. We couldn’t resist filming the speedy little guy. Did the dog know? Hoping this Monday minute whisks you away to a fabulous shore.
Any soundtrack can work. I was tempted to write ‘Ryan’s dog’… The west coast of Ireland vistas in the movie Ryan’s Daughter flicked in my mind. The 1970 movie was directed by David Lean, cinematography by Freddie Young, and score by Maurice Jarre.

I could not help but share the deli case this morning at Willow Rest! It’s simply stunning and inviting, but I came for the awesome breakfast burrito!

Roast Beast-Chicken cutlets-fresh turkey

I know you may be on the other side of the world (downtown) but ya gotta come eat at Willow Rest when you get a chance! #localpride Sent from my iPhone
It’s opening day at Fenway…enjoy the view!

Opening Day. 2016.
Spring is in the air (kind of). The boys are back in town. And Fenway Park is officially open for business. Baseball season makes me kind of giddy and, as another Opening Day is upon us, I felt the need to take a walk down my own little Memory Lane last night.
I’ve clocked some serious hours inside the hallowed walls of Fenway Park….here are some of my favorite memories and photos. Some during important events with sold out crowds, some when the ballpark was completely empty, some victorious, some solemn, some firsts, some lasts, some celebrations, some good-byes, some iconic, and some quirky. All a part of why Fenway Park in undoubtedly one of my favorite places on Earth.

Dog lovers can observe this rare and unusual breed at a Speciality Show for Kangal dogs. Owners will come from all over the US to participate, including Cape Ann native Mary Hughes. The unusual profile of the Kangal dog is what makes this show so interesting. Originally from Turkey, their centuries old history is based on flocking guarding skills that are on display still today, in Turkey and the US, although there is an estimated 800 in this country.

“To love and to be loved is to feel the warmth of the sun from two directions.”
David Viscott (1938 – 1996)
A Dorchester native, Viscott graduated from Dartmouth College, trained in psychiatry at Tufts Medical School, and taught at University Hospital in Boston. He had a successful practice and began writing books, but left his first wife after 17 years, and four children, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue Katherine Random, whom he later married. In California he began a radio program taking calls and dispensing advice live on air, then a novel practice. His combination of gently eliciting the details of callers problems and then giving tough-love advice garnered him huge audiences. His newfound fame allowed him to charge $1500 an hour, and he claimed he could cure anyone in just four sessions. His need for adulation was his ultimate downfall. He became estranged from his wife and children, and died alone at age 58 from heart disease and complications of diabetes.

I like to send good old fashioned cards still, even in this digital age….but I’m not always that great at it if I have to make a trip to Walgreens, then I don’t always have postage on hand…whatever the excuse. But not too long ago I received a special postcard in the mail after a fun girls weekend with a picture of all of us and I just loved it! My friend Maureen sent it using the “Ink” app for iPhone, iPad or android. I know you are thinking it’s kind of impersonal to use an app to send a sentiment but I would totally disagree….it’s ever MORE personal because you’ve put a fun photo or memory on there and you can type in exactly what you want to say on the back. They come in postcard for or folded and you can add an envelope to your order. They print it, put postage on it and send it for you all from the comfort of your own home for about the same price of a hallmark card. While I would probably never send a sympathy card this way….you can do invites, thank you cards, birthday, anniversary, graduation, baby….tons of options! Now you will be looking for people to send cards too!! Have fun!
