So this was unbelievably yummy. Every once in a while a grilled cheese sandwich sounds like the right thing to order. And this one did not disappoint.
Grilled cheese with arugula, roasted red peppers, and avocado from Half Baked Bakery in Beverly Farms. Come on.

Today was the grand opening of the One Ocean One Love Shop in Gloucester. Offering all types of ocean-lifestyle goods, this little shop by the docks is open just in time for spring. Hidden just down at the end of the state fish pier, the shop is located where Parker and Wall St. meet down by the marina. The shop is chuck full of great original prints and gear, along with cool gift ideas, skin care products, solar-charged blue tooth beach speakers, cool hats, stickers, & beer koozies. If you see the lighthouse, you’ve found it! Stop by and show your support! (Jamie Verga and family cameo no less!)

Pretty Sky over Shore Road on Friday evening

We’re tuning in to watch Masterchef Jr because we read about Lila, a young chef from Rockport. What an accomplishment for this poised and talented cook. We’re not entirely current and caught up, so no spoilers, please. Excerpt from episode 3– “I live on an island so I’m used to cooking a lot of fish…”
Now check out the real thing! These kids are unbelievable! Catch up on episodes
Masterchef Jr Season 5 on Fox channel premiered February 9, 2017 with hosts Gordon Ramsey and Christina Tosi. Airs Thursday nights.

Beautiful tribute to Saint Joseph
As Len celebrates his 80th, let’s revisit one of his ice crystal masterpieces. Len is truly a fine artist, craftsman, musician and scholar. Above all, he is a warm and gentle soul and, happily, a good friend.

At Dawn
At dawn we walk through a forest of frozen firs,
their branches dipping to snag our hats and drip
ice down our backs and send chills to our toes,
with snow underfoot and shadowy woods ahead.
But, the young sun’s glow gives a sweet caress
and promises us shelter as we trudge through
this strange, mysterious and glorious world
of shadow and light, of biting cold and loving
warmth

On Thursday decided to take a ride over to visit the animals at Marshalls Farm Stand, 144 Concord Street, Gloucester, MA near Wingaersheek Beach. By the way the farm stand will be opening in late May.
The Alpacas and the horses are so friendly. Great place to visit with your kids/grandchildren

In conjunction with the Cape Ann Museum’s spring exhibition, Charles Movalli: Cape Ann & Beyond, the Museum is hosting an online photography contest. Photographers of all ages and experience levels are invited to submit images based on the theme of “at the water’s edge” that capture the magical place often seen in Movalli’s work where land and sea meet. Photos must be taken in Rockport, Gloucester, Essex or Manchester-by-the-Sea.
For over forty years, Charles Movalli (1945–2016) was a pillar of Cape Ann’s year-round art community, a distinguished landscape and marine painter, a prolific writer and advocate for the arts and a widely respected teacher.
A photographer in the pulpit of a sword fishing vessel, Gloucester, MA (possibly Vincent’s Cove). Handcolored slide from the Fishermen’s Institute, c. 1921. Collection of the Cape Ann Museum Library & Archives.
Cape Ann Museum staff will select photos for public voting on the basis of creativity, photographic quality and effectiveness in conveying the theme of “at the water’s edge.” Beginning on Friday, May 5, the selected photos will be posted on the Museum’s Facebook page at facebook.com/camuseum. The public will be encouraged to vote for their favorite photo(s) by “liking” them.
For more information please visit: capeannmuseum.org/waters-edge
A selection of photographs, including the top three winning entries, will be displayed on the Cape Ann Museum website.
