First Event of ‘Music on Meetinghouse Green’ Series to benefit Pathways for Children on Friday Evening, July 7th
The Gloucester Meetinghouse Foundation presents the first of 9 free, family-friendly outdoor concerts, featuring Berklee Be-Bop Guitars with John Baboian on July 7th 2017 at 6 pm, on Meetinghouse Green, corner of Church and Middle St, Gloucester.
The “Be-Bop” Guitars is an all-faculty band from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. It includes guitars, trumpet/flute, vibes, bass and drums. The band plays both guitar-oriented jazz and music rooted in the “Bop” tradition. They promise a lively and fun evening!
The public is invited to make free-will donations to Pathways for Children, the non-profit organization partnered with this concert (please bring cash or check and be generous). Pathways is a leading provider of education and care programs on the North Shore of Massachusetts serving over 500 children and their families from 13 communities.
Picnicking is encouraged so pack a basket with food and drink. You may also purchase delicious seafood and other goodies on-site from Joe’s on a Roll. Bring folding chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the event will take place inside the Meetinghouse.
The sponsors of ‘Music on Meetinghouse Green’ pre-pay the expenses so all contributions go to our non-profit partners. Summer is the season of fire, and there is an increased tendency for arguments, yelling, and getting angry. It is better not to discuss any serious topics during the hot hours of the day, or during very hot days. If you need to make important decisions, do it in the morning or evening when it’s cool.

Mayor Romeo Theken regrets missing the 2017 kick off concert due to a prior family commitment, and she’s ever thankful that this fantastic series at such a grand and special venue is continuing after the pilot program last season! She’s asked Ward Councilor Melissa Cox to be on hand to open the first event. Mayor Theken is especially calling out old friends to come downtown to the old stomping grounds for all of them…especially August 11th!

More fun times with the grandchildren
Maddie, Owen, Cole and Avery have been staying with Papa and Nonnie since Sunday night. We are having such a great time with them. So far, beach, Maritime Gloucester, Lego Land, Mile Marker to swim, Wingaersheek Beach and today the beach with Aunts and Uncles. Lots of fun and so grateful we live where is so much to do.

We like to support Gloucester Stage and Heidi Dallin, and try to see anything with Lindsay Crouse. There’s no question that Gloucester Stage productions are mostly terrific.
Tom Hauck’s GMG review compelled us to see the New England premiere of The Effect, Lucy Prebble’s 2012 dramatic play at Gloucester Stage. It’s a go see for sure! I think it’s the best play about thorny life and medical themes since Wit. We can delight in Prebble’s dynamite dialogue because the direction, acting, and set are pitch perfect.
Who knew? You can bring that glass of prosecco you didn’t finish back to your seat.
Buy seats on line for Gloucester Stage matinee today and you’d have time to make it over to Windhover’s dance tonight! Tough summer living here in Gloucester 🙂
