A Bright Shiny Penny For Your Thoughts

Jim and I are disappointed that we will not be able to be in Gloucester to greet the New Year. We’ve both been laid low by “the crud” and don’t wish to share it with our Glosta friends. You can thank me later.
We’ve added a few things to our bucket list as we contemplate the New Year. Jim wants to participate in the Rocky Neck Polar Plunge. I want to find a snowy owl and get a spectacular photo. We both hope to explore Magnolia, Manchester and Lanesville a bit more. I’d like to add some names to the family tree as a result of research done in the area. Modest goals for us, but we have big hopes for you all.
A new year is like a shiny penny: bright and full of promise. We hope 2018 is your best year yet. We hope we can all live by the Dogtown words of wisdom but more than anything else, we wish you

It seems the world is running short but perhaps 2018 will turn that around.

THANK YOU MONIQUE JEAN AT COVETED YARN!!
The last time I made a Christmas stocking was when Alex was a baby. I miss knitting and was determined to at least get one started for Charlotte. It’s been a long time since I turned a heel on stocking or sock, but thanks to Monique Jean at Coveted Yarn, she showed me just how to do it (Monique made nine Christmas stocking this year for her family). While she was helping decipher the directions, I couldn’t help but think how fortunate are we in Gloucester to have such a fantastic yarn shop, which is not only always stocked with gorgeous yarns, but staffed with a super knowledgeable person such as Monique. Many thanks to Monique for her gracious help!
Coveted Yarn is located at 127 Eastern Avenue, just behind Shaws. Their hours are as follows:
Monday and Thursday 10 AM to 9:00 PM
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 10 AM to 6 PM
Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM
Sunday 12 PM to 5 PM

How could I not pull over and take some photos of this stunning sight? Pigeon Cove was gorgeous early yesterday morning…but, holy crap, it was cold out!

@PKGrills #PK360 Setup For Two Full Racks Of Ribs
Prepped the St Louis pork ribs by first trimming off the silverskin membrane, light slather of mustard to hold the rub and then hit it with my pork rub.

Next filled right side of PK 360 with a full chimney of unlit coals. Placed 10 briquettes in the chimney to get going and dumped on one corner of the unlit coals and sprinkled on some cherry wood for smoke. Put down a sheet of tin foil and aluminum trays on the charcoal grate under where the ribs will be placed on the opposite side of the grill from the coals. Fill the foil pan a quarter of the way with warm water to help retain a moist smoking environment. The foil will keep the bottom of the grill easy to clean from the fat drippings that will render throughout the low and slow cooking session.

Place a remote thermometer in…
